…don’t forget the expansion to M&M…Seas of Glory. It has 11 new packs to use. I love the Changing Wind mechanism…and smuggling. It also has some new variants I have not tried yet…but will soon!
@Strats Definitely two to look out for then. We don’t have many decent pirate games round here. Armada 3 sort of fits the bill in this house and then there’s the Ghost of Avalon Hill Blackspot meets Talisman fare: Sword and Skull
Libertalia sounds pretty Puerto Rico-y – but with enough doubloons and pantaloons to be the sugar that helps the Euro medicine go down.
Merchants well you pretty much said all the buzz words. Ameritrashy and pirate theme. Yo ho ho and allow me to run about in that sandbox. We don’t shy away from the Afternoon Killer or the Pyjama Party that is TI3 (highly recommended way to play). So allow me to put that on the Wishery with Yedo
@Hai You got it! I tried to be more vague this month as I thought it may have been too easy last time (Dixit skills to the rescue!).
Libertalia is a decent game. We started playing for free on Board Game Arena (I can play with you there, if anybody wants to!) and I realized my one friend (who hates randomness) would enjoy it IRL. I brought it into the fold, and he has requested it two months in a row.
Merchants, on the other hand, is full of Ameri-Thrashy goodness, and provides the best pirate theme experience. The downside is it has two modes of play and a ton of specific rules that only occur in certain situations. Our most common result is a game that requires two hours to teach and only two to three hours to play. This makes it the worst teach time to play time ratio in my collection (if we are teaching for two hours might as well go TI3 and get a twelve hour game out of it), and discourages all of us from cracking it open for a game (and I adamantly refuse to teach this unless at least two are learning simultaneously). Last time we played we had the new player watch a tutorial video and that seemed to work well. I imagine a group that plays it more often would get better mileage from the investment.
I knew #3 because someone likes to blow up Probe Droids in our faces when given the chance. And I am surprised #6 eluded me with 5 games vs The Nieces under my belt this past weekend.
I need to put this Libertalia on my wish list it seems but I am leaning towards M&M at the moment for punchboard and peglegs
@Stratagon Hmmm…these are tough (although I see the Cursed Relics are back). I have give these a sleep think – but I have a feeling none of them are Fresco
@Lone Token My checkered past leads to quite a bit of betrayal.
Maternally I support Montreal while paternally I betray the Islanders with brash braying from New Yawk. With, as you might say, a Queen City birth, I betray the Maple Leafs. Since I could speak, I guess I betray the Devils and according to my current mailing address the closest I betray is their rivals the Flyers.
It is much like being despised, lost, afflicted, and bewitched.
Only a few solo games of Onirim and LotR:LCG this weekend.
Mostly due to a bachelor party for a friend, a visit on Saturday which includes the men having to plan, buy and prepare a three course meal and finally great weather with a chance to do some work in the garden.
Ticket to Ride: Europe, Star Realms, and Sentinels of the Multiverse , all in all pretty cool weekend. It was my first time playing any Ticket to Ride game.
I had to turn down game night with the regular group due to too much work. A game or two of solo-play Space Hulk Death Angel: The Card Game will have to do..

@Stratagon #5 = New entry: Luck o the Dice?

Correct Granny! Let’s see if anybody knows #5…
1 – Libertalia
2 – Coup
3 – Imperial Assault
4 – Space Alert
5 – not sure about this one.
6 – King of Tokyo
@Stratagon Hmmm…these are tough (although I see the Cursed Relics are back). I have give these a sleep think – but I have a feeling none of them are Fresco
Epic Game Day quotes (one from each game, can you guess them?):
1 – My Monkey would like you to have these Cursed Relics!
2 – I use the Duke to block your foreign aid.
3 – I should have self-destructed before Diala killed me.
4 – You were supposed to push the A button not the B button, you just wasted our last fuel capsule.
5 – I have a triple and a double, give me six of those shiny coins.
6 – These stars aren’t going to mean anything if you keep giving me your stupid detachable head.
@Hai
Funny 🙂 I expected not less from you

It is much like being despised, lost, afflicted, and bewitched.
So between making my tax report and the NHL series I managed to play (and loose) 2 games of Tales of the Arabian Night.
During my last story I was injured, disabled, imprisoned, despised, sued, lost, enslaved, afflicted and bewitched
My daugther had a blast reading me my miserable adventure
@Hai….Awesome.
I think you’re not from quebec so what’s the team that you betrayed if this is not too intrusive ….

I got to play my new kickstarter game, Luck O’ The Dice. Lots of fun!
@Lone Token: le Club de hockey Canadien!

@ red shirt
I do not want to start a rivalry in the first round but for which Canadian team are you taking for…
I’m a Montréal Canadian fan
I’m also expecting less heavy gaming for the next weeks
In between NHL playoffs and “real life”…hoping to play a game or two in this weekend.
@Hai
Excellent! I have Strife Pre-Ordered but will keep an eye out for the extras.
