We missed TableTop Day, but we had some friends over the day before and the day after, and played a lot of new games, so I guess we had a TableTop Weekend!!!
Two new purchases for the occasion: Sushi Go! Star Fluxx
And two new to us, contributed by friends: Cash’n Guns Viticulture
I was hoping to finally play through Munchkin and 7 Wonders with a few new expansions I had bought for both, but we didn’t get to them.
Spent Saturday at a small Tabletop Day event. We ended up playing Video Game High School three times, along with Dark Seas, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Xia: Legend of a Drift System. My son and I enjoyed Xia so much that we borrowed it from a friend and played another game yesterday. Unfortunately, the first print run sold out so now I have to wait to buy a copy!
@Hai: If there’s no “Easy/learning mode” on a co-op game and I win on my first play, I likely won’t play it again. I need the challenge of a game that kicks me in the knee and then stomps on my face while I’m on the ground, in order to enjoy a co-op.
XCOM, for example, spanked us in TUTORIAL mode. I love that game.
Tabletop Day turned out pretty good for me. Got in a game of Qwirkle, Takenoko, Bananagrams, Scoville, and 2 games of my new kickstarter game that came last week- Antidote. Seems like a fun game so far. It was also my first time backing anything on kickstarter too, so it was nice to have a good experience right off the bat.
@Lone Token- If you enjoy board game apps, I would recommend the Ghost Stories app. I don’t get to play the physical board game much (my friends don’t like to play), but I play the app all the time. I don’t know if it’s the app, or just playing the solo version (I’ve never played the physical version solo), but I win about 75% of the time, and I play the h€ll level.
I to love Ghost Stories for the challenge it brings. I’ve had a fairly good success rate at it, even managing a win against Nightmare… I’ve never even touched on ****.. Our keys to winning is simple:
1) Pick the best characters
2) Let blue start and go and pick up both Buddhas
3) Draw and roll decent…
My opinion (with only 3-4 games though) is that White Moon actually makes it easier for the players.
Alas no Felicia Day Zombie Food promo win in the Cardboard Chef Tabletop Day Cookoff *sadness upon sadness* But it wasn’t up for grabs anyway so it was a Potato Salad for Naught.
Did get an after hours game of Waterdeep in – which multiplied my collective Tabletop Day losses – while The Boy showed off new acquisition Xenoshyft to his chumbos. With all the screams and cusses it seems pretty intense fare – which it was as we played it today and got soundly trounced.
@Granny LOL The Demon Souls of board games. Nice.
@Granny/Lone Token/Paladin I need to give Ghost Stories a game mindset reboot like @Lone Token. I played it once or twice awhile back and took a harsh beating. Time spent with Darkest Night and The Captain is Dead has made me appreciate the Co-op Masochist Lifestyle of late though.
@Paladin Surprising anything Ghost Stories is OOP aside from promo cards
For tabletop day my My husband and I tried our second time playing Zombicide. At first I thought we were going to die right away but we pulled through! I also purchased a few new games and I can’t wait to get them in the mail.
@Lone Token: For a lot of games — Cosmic Encounter, Wiz-War, Cyclades come to mind — I bought the expansions immediately just so they’re available whenever I want. With Ghost Stories I haven’t even purchased them. I know I need a TON more GS plays before I add even more. One of the two was out-of-print for a while recently, though, so I may pick it up to make sure it’s never unavailable (or gouged on eBay).
I had a great Tabletop day with a group of friends. We played Thunderstone Advance, Shadows Over Camelot, Ultimate Werewolf, Smallworld and Smash Up. Hoping to maybe play a few others tomorrow too!
Just finished our TableTop Day gathering here in our Boston apartment. I finally got to play Robo Rally for the first time and found it to be good, whacky fun. Then a few 9-player games of Avalon with one win for Good and one win for Evil.
Finally, we split into two groups. The Lady led half our guests in Concept and Dixit, white the other four of us played Dead of Winter. I managed to pull of a Betrayal victory at the last moment, just a fraction of a round before the Group Objective was secured. Woo!
@Granny & @Lone Token – One day I shall be reliably proficient enough in Ghost Stories that I’ll be able to play the expansions. Until then, I LOVE the challenge it provides, which is missing in a lot of co-ops.

Me and my crew had a Beautiful game of Zombicide!

@Inmarg
Now I understand what I was doing wrong…I was no drawing and rolling good 🙂
Just ordered the White Moon expansion after reading only good review about it
TableTop Day at my LGS was awesome and the biggest yet. I played Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures, Ticket to Ride, Splendor and Imperial Assault.
Saturday’s tabletop day was celebrated by a game of Five Tribes, Elder Sign with both expansions and finishing up with 2 games of Escape:Zombie City

Played some Rivals:Batman vs. Joker; Pandamic-The Cure; and Fallen

Today I end up playing solo games.
– Robinson Crusoé.. my win ratio is pathetic…..I hope never have to survive on a desert island
– D-Day-Dice…finally beat Omaha Beach
– Gem Rush
Playing my first game of Agricola, and then later a five man Zombicide night featuring pulled pork sandwiches.

Great Tabletop Day with 4 Player Francis Drake and Fire & Axe. So much fun.
@ Paladin
Like you, I don’t think I am ready to add expansions and more challenge to the base game.
Introduced a new gamer to Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. And rounded off with a few sessions of Tsuro. Great fun!
