Jon and I are here in Germany, at the awesomely huge SPIEL international game fair!
My first impression is best described as a combination of being like a tourist in New York City at that moment when you stare up at the sky scrapers in awe of how huge they are as well as being a kid in a candy store! Even having been to Gen Con this year, I was blown away by how many great games there are!
I thought it would be fun to let you chime in and request games you would like me to check out! I can’t guarantee I’ll see them all, but I’ll be trying out games, asking questions and taking photos all day Friday and Saturday.
I’ll write brief news entries about how my days go, and then post photos and more details once I get back to the states.
So it’s time for me to get rested up for tomorrow, and time for you to let me know what games to check out!
Gute Nacht
I love this part of the site…
I second what whatawhale said, let’s see some pictures! 🙂
If you’re by the CGE booth, your take on Dungeon Petz would be appreciated, as would Wizkids’ Mage Knight the Board Game.
I’ll also second the Ora et Labora request!
Enjoy your time there!
Sounds like a fun trip, but I always got the impression that Essen was very solidly only representative of a section of our hobby rather than the whole thing like GenCon tends to be.
It’s also said that an expansion to Quarriors! will be released there…
Sounds awesome! I’m all ears to hear what you discover there!
Oh, and check out the Deluxe Version of Ankh-Morpork if you can… please.
I’m excited about Eclipse. If you get a chance to play… I think it will be worth it.
And no, it has nothing to do with sparkling vampires.
Can you please give us your take on:
1) Power Grid: First Sparks
2) Helvetia
3) Ora et Labora
But I’ll be happy to read anything you have on any game there. Thanks for your website!
Jacob

Wow, that is awesome! Send me a ticket so I can come to! Umm… I’m just curious what kind of games companies and such are there. Is there an FFG presence?
Gary Games is selling copies of Ascension: Storm of Souls. If you could pick up a copy and mail it to me, I’d really appreciate it. 🙂 … or just check it out. Whichever is easier.
