This Week’s Explorable Games
This round of Explorable Favorites is from BoardGaming.com member Mrtwills. The two games randomly selected from his favorites shelf were:
- Alien Frontiers
Clever Mojo Games - Twilight Imperium (3ed)
Fantasy Flight Games
These games will be explorable until next Monday, October 7th.
After you’ve explored these games, let us know what you think about them in the comments below!
Twilight Imperium as Arkham Horror now it’s hard to find people who have them and the expansions.
Then try Europa Universalis. I once played one turn of the Grand Campaign (the whole game takes 60 turns) and that took about 6 hours. My gaming friends had given up by then, so I doubt I ever play a complete game in my life…
Well, Arkham Horror is also a very long game.
With the expansions, not only gives the 4 hours provided, but gives the day a single match.
@ Martin
Yeah, TI3 is one of the longest games I’ve ever played. Last time it was eight of us for something like 10-12 hours.
Definitely an all day affair, but I still find it fun.
But because it’s so long and because there’s so many OTHER games out there I really enjoy playing, I tend to play only once or twice a year. And with so few plays per year at a max, I’ll never be the guy who buys it for the group to play.
And by the way I cannot wait to play Alien Frontiers. I will wait till the 4th edition comes out. Already played Twilight and I am still undecided about it. I do know that it plays way to long for my taste.
Sorry everyone! I didn’t see that there was a second page of reviews available! It was all my fault. Make the numbers at the bottom bigger Jim!! 😀
FYI, our exploration tracker is only able to tell if you’ve read a review or tip after you’ve rated if it was helpful to you or not. Also, like others have said, if a game is made explorable, your past ratings for tips and reviews will only count if there are not enough new (unrated by you) tips and reviews to complete the exploration.
I’ll keep you posted on what we figure out for Martin.
Thanks Jim… I will be more patient in the future!
Hey all, sorry I wasn’t able to get in here sooner.
Account Deletion, comments with links get sent to our moderation system, and require our review and approval, hence the delay in your comment showing up.
Martin, I’ll work this one out with you via email. Once we figure it out I’ll post a comment here to say what the issue was so we can help other users know what to do if they run into the same issue.
Well, I tried again with just the un-linked URL, and that’s not appearing here either. If you just click “Games” at the top of the page, then scroll down to the bottom, “Boardgaming – The Website” appears there.
You can contact him at jim boardgaming com.
Martin, I posted the link twice, but it’s not showing here. We might be a little buggy today. I’m trying this to see if the link was the problem.
Martin – here is the URL:

Where is the BG game page so I can get Jim’s attention?
Normally, if there are other reviews you could grade the system won’t count any reviews you’ve already graded, but if there’s not enough ungraded ones to max out your review grading in the explorer quest it has your previously graded reviews count for whatever’s left to fill to maximum.
It’s strange that it’s not doing that for you, Martin.
I have had this happen a few times – that reviews I have graded in the past don’t count towards the exploration quest.
How weird. Maybe you should post this as a discussion on the BG game page to catch Jim’s attention. It seems counter-productive to penalize people who go out of their way to read the reviews and provide valuable feedback to the writers and community as a whole. And according to the FAQ on the game exploration quest page, “Previously rated tips and reviews will only count as steps towards exploration of a game if there aren’t more tips and reviews available for you to read and rate”. Clearly this covers your situation… If I’m reading this right, you should have started with 5 reviews completed and only needed to rate the one review that you hadn’t to complete the exploration.
Thanks AD but it only shows that I read only one out of six reviews.
Martin – I had all of the reviews graded before AF was explorable, and they were already logged as completed for me. It let me finish the exploration after filling in the few other items (I did have to re-watch the video). Are you sure it doesn’t already show the reviews as completed for you?
I cannot complete the explore for Alien Frontiers, I completed all reviews except one a long time ago! Darn.
