The weekend weather is predicted to be windy and rainy, so it’s the perfect time for some game playing. I’m not sure exactly what we’ll play, but here’s my wish list:
Lords of Xidit
Robots on the Line
Lagoon
Eight-Minute Empire
What are you playing this weekend?
Yes, I do plan to get some gaming in, and I hope to dust off some Memoir ’44.
@JAY Nice going! Another @Stratagon Quote Quiz felled! Thanks for doing these during your monthly EPIC games days Strat 🙂 They are much fun.
I’ll guess I will wish all Stateside Gamers a happy Memorial Day weekend 🙂 here (Because…???) A perfect time for charcoal, citronella, and cardboard. Happy Gaming!
@Jay Sense of accomplishment, admiration of your peers, lamentation of their women…oh wait, that one is from Conan.
@strat – Yeah! Do I win something? 🙂
@Jay Nailed it!
Did some digging… Martian Dice.
@Jay Correct!
#4 is a filler game from out of this world.
4) —-
7) Stratego?
8) Star Wars Armada
@Hai All correct so far. 4 and 7 I can give more clues after others have had a chance. And for 8, I’m sure somebody will be able to tell which it is.
@Stratagon Wooo! Stratagon’s Epic Game Day ‘Name That Game’ always a GD BG good time.
Hmmmm….
1) DC Dicemasters or whatever the set name is – Justice League?
2) Love Letter Dark Knight Edition
3) Sheriff of Nottingham
4) ???????
5) Hive
6) Lords of Waterdeep
7) ??????
8) Something Star Wars and Space Cracky: X-wing or Armada?
Played some Forbidden Desert for the first time, and really enjoyed it better than Forbidden Island. Played some Marvel DiceMasters with my son. Even though he has tons of cards and has given me some left overs, I still smoked him … muahahaha. Also, played Android Netrunner for the first time over lunch last week and really enjoyed the mind bending/asymmetric/combo complexity of it all.
Bonus from Sunday (not quite as) Epic Game Day:
8 – I click twice on the second notch and fly right into you for collision damage.
Epic Game Day quotes (one from each game, can you guess them?):
1 – The Joker goes to the Field for two and I will use the other three to buy a red Action Die.
2 – Using Two-Face to pass the Joker away is a double edged sword.
3 – She can’t be honest to the whole game. I’ll pay you two coins to look in her bag.
4 – Well you have 3 cows and 2 chickens, you could always push your luck and try to roll some humans, the other white meat.
5 – The grasshopper moves in a straight line, but has to have other insects to jump over.
6 – Since I have the “castle”, I will go here before everybody else and get two orange guys. Here’s one purple, two white and four orange, now move me up 15 points.
7 – I probably have to concede since that was my last Miner and you likely have your flag surrounded with bombs.
Played two new (to me) games at game night yesterday- Cards Against Humanity and The Resistance. The Resistance was really fun! Even more fun when I was one of the spies!
@Cyberman Mage Knight is super deep crunchy awesomeness. The Twilight Imperium of Fantastica with a not-deckbuildy deckbuildy choco syrup topping. I highly recommend exploring the various expansions once you get fully into the deep end. 🙂
@HarryCallagha76 I know there are some Spartacus expansions but I think they may have lost/retired the license so you may want to go searching before full tilt e-bay Black Market. The Boy likes this one bunches also, but it is usually reserved for his Boy Band. Now when it gets a reskinning as X-men:Mutant Revolution that’s a different story and since it will be WizKids I’m sure there will be expansions aplenty.
Ugh – another gathering and another fail for #TeamRebel in Imperial Assault. I have come to dread those ‘Forced Missions’ Master Imperial Darth Boy loves to disrupt us with. They are nigh on impossible and even he admitted this one was. Apparently, if we didn’t split up and send two heroes into a room with those big sand lizardy things with all the teeth and two heroes sprinting across a base to a room filled with Imperial Guards immediately in Round 1 we were destined to lose come Round 5. Guess what we didn’t do? #Rebelsigh
Saturday was Adventures in Nieces-sitting which consisted of a trip to Sesame Place and me hiding from the sun under a floppy hat, continually being amazed by how much muppety stuff SeaWorld Entertainment, a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch, can cram into a slice of a mall parking lot. Also continually amazed that Jim Henson tossed Ernie and Bert in bed with Orca and malted hops. #TheMoreYouKnow. I expect those type of shenanigans more from Bri-bri. Happy Chinese food dinner and a pre-approved screening of The Avengers:Age of Ultron (James Spader, you sexy puffy robot man, you) And what does this have to do with gaming? King of Tokyo until sun pinked cheeks finally turned into passy-out faces (way way too far past bed time) 🙂
Sunday – not so much gaming as hanging out watching comments and pledge counts until my Most Anticipated Game of 2016: Millennium Blades funded. I did spend the afternoon taunting backers to blow through some last minute reveal Stretch Goals as a Shadowy Master of the Illuminati Extraordinaire. It was like herding cats which is kind of a game.
Wanted to play a game of Transylvania:Curses & Traitors after the big countdown, but I was a bit passy-outy faced myself by then.
Quite a few games of LotR:LCG in the end including 6 tries at Return to Mirkwood going 3-3. Love how brutal this game can be sometimes, flipping up Hill Troll followed by Attercop, Attercop and when you’ve finally managed to put away those you draw a new Hill Troll with bare a resource nor Ally left…
Me and my wife checked out the new local game board cafe. It was a great night and we checked out some new games ( takenoko, tsuro, and all creatures great and small).
I played a bunch of games, but do not want to spoil Stratagon’s quiz!!
My friends and I are playing 7 Wonders. Its a great addition to our game collection because it can accommodate several players. Most of the time there are 5+ of us so it can be hard to play board games once in awhile. Anyone know of any other games that support 6+ players? We have Betrayal but the game isn’t well balanced and the rules can be very unclear.
