@Cyberman: Yes, I am bummed too. I only own the base game, never bothered to pick up the expansions. Now the expansions are beyond reach. A friend of mine has all the expansions, so we always use his stuff.
@Stargazer1: I adore Battlestar. Am bummed that it’s out of print and that has led to Captain Insano prices on the interwebs.
Played Forbidden Desert last night (every time I play that game, I have Homer’s voice in my head: “Mmmmmmm, forbidden dessert”) as my son hasn’t been into competitive games lately. We won by the skin of our teeth.
My girlfriend and I will be working our way through a few of the games we bought at Gen Con. Dead Man’s Doubloons, Arboretum, Near and Far Amber Mines, Lucidity. Also hoping to get in a game of Brass that a friend got from kickstarter.
My wife and I have been going through our collection of games and playing the ones we haven’t touched in a while. So far, we have enjoyed rediscovering some of our lesser played favorites. About the only one that fell flat with us is Morels (aka Fungi). There just don’t seem to be enough meaningful choices in the game, and the sliding of the forest cards after each turn seems to be a bit clunky. We both agree that small, portable card and dice games are becoming a favorite for our casual gaming style.
So, this weekend we will play Roll Through the Ages, Oh My Goods, and Kingdomino.
Just found a complete used set of Mansions of Madness at a thrift store for $5, and while I’d like to try the game out it seems as though it would take years of study to figure out.
I am playing Star Realms with the Gambit and Crisis expansions. Also got brand new cards for Overpower, so I will be trying them out this weekend. Giving Dice Masters a break!
