This Week’s Explorable Games
This round of Explorable Favorites is from BoardGaming.com member King Midas. The games selected from their Favorites shelf were:
- Bang! The Bullet!
dV Giochi | Published: 2007 - Bohnanza
Rio Grande Games | Published: 1997
These games will be explorable until next Monday, June 1st
After you’ve explored these games, let us know what you think about them in the comments below!
@Bit Bot LOL Thanks for picking up my slack 😉 I think Real Life was in stiff competition with Hai Life that week and as I feared…King Midas is a quiet soul and part of the silent majority. The BGnot 😉
@Martin I guess that’s the funny thing about Fave Shelves when they aren’t yours
Thanks for the explorable games, but neither one appeals to me.
I would like to hear a comparison of Bang! The bullet! and Bang! The dice game. A friend of mine who has played both by far prefers the dice version due to shorter playtime but I wouldn’t mind hearing the experience from others as well.
Thanks for the info Bit and Bot.
King Midas, congrats on you feature on the sacred shelf! Since Haikulture seems to be busy, I will in her stead with much less flair ask that you participate in the metagame and tell us why you feel these games deserve such an exalted status.
I have both of these, and they are a good time. Light and fluffy enough to play with neophytes but enough strategy to interest more established veterans.
@Tom – There is a two player variant of Bohnanza included in the rulebook, but as I recall it sucked a good amount of the fun out of the game. Your mileage may vary.
Bohnanza and Bang! are two games that I thought would go over great with my ranching/farming family: no go.
I had hoped that Bohanzna would scratch the same itch as Pit, but the fact that the draw deck has to be depleted three times (which can mean a 60+ minute playthrough for new players!) means it has a decidedly slower pace (and lower decibal) than Pit.
And I bought Bang! the Bullet for my brother — an avid reader and watcher of Westerns — after playing through it with some friends and loving it. But the Bullet includes several expansions, which I think intimidates my family by sheer volume of cards. I thought I could teach it to them, but they shrink from even the slightest hint of roleplaying.
Alas, two games that should have been hits, fallen by the wayside.
Bang! looks interesting, kinda sounds like the older version is better? Thanks for the look at Bohnanza, probably would never have noticed this one!
King Midas, congrats on having this week’s explorable favorites. Does Bohnanza work as a two player game?
