This round of Explorable Favorites is from BoardGaming.com member Orions. The games selected from his Favorites shelf were:
- Ora & Labora
Z-Man Games | Published: 2011 - Carcassonne
Rio Grande Games, Z-Man Games | Published: 2000
These games will be explorable until next Monday, June 16th.
After you’ve explored these games, let us know what you think about them in the comments below!
I was introduced to Carcassonne one of our gaming sessions as we were waiting for the last person to join us. As the owner told me, this was one of the first games he got and while at the beginning they were really excited about, especially because this is one of the games he can play with his wife, who does not usually play boardgames, they now feel like the game is not as challenging as others they have tried. As a result, they came out with a house rule: each player has three tiles in their hands so as to be able to choose which one to use and when, adding more strategy to the game. I really enjoyed this, because it took me a while to figure out the restrictions to tile placement. In the end, I didn’t get as many points as the others, who had clearer strategies but I felt like I finally got a grasp of this game, which can be considered a classic.
I will definitely be picking up a copy of Ora & Labora soon to add another fine euro game element to round out game library. Carcassonne is already in my library and a favorite of my wife. As always, love the explorable favorites!
Dark Pharaoh,
I see you already got it, so it won’t matter now, but one thing to watch for when going for hourglasses is they only show up on the “review” page for a game, not the “tips” or “discussion” pages.
I’ve had a number of times where I was waiting for an hourglass to show up, and eventually realized I was on the wrong page.
Yay! hourglass!
Bummer. Carc was already explored. O&L doesn’t have enough reviews.
Ora & Labora won’t give me the time-on-page hourglass! I just need the hourglass!
Drat! When did I already explore Carcassonne??? No treasure chest this week 🙁
Have you played Ora & Labora? Yeeeah. If you could just go ahead and review it, that would be great!
