As someone who is relatively new to tabletop gaming, Myth seems daunting yet I’m very intrigued by it. Hopefully I’ll run into someone who has a copy or who has played before who can give me a crash course on it.
Colosseum looks interesting too although it seems I’ve missed the boat on that one since everywhere I’ve checked it’s either out of stock or priced ridiculously high.
Congrats, Paladin!
Look forward to reading up on Myth actually, heard a lot of conflicting things about it.
I’ve played Colosseum a few times over the years and it has always been great fun and usually quite hard to see who is leading. A truly great design and probably my favorite DoW game.
Still waiting on a go at Myth. A friend of mine backed it and hopped on the expansion recently without having tested it still.
Also, I am SO saddened that I haven’t reviewed one of my own favorites (Colosseum) and am missing out on tons of thumbs! Delve into my profile and give a few clicks if you read something you like, won’t you friends?
Hey! That’s ME! OHMYGAWSH!
Anyone who reads my reviews knows I am a sucker for fancy components. When I discovered Colosseum, seven years too late, I made it my quest to procure a copy for my collection due to the beautiful components.
Several months and a desperate eBay auction later, I had it. And dragged people to my apartment to play it. It’s got really fun auction and set collection mechanics and a unique scoring system. Overall, a game I am deeply in love with.
I’ve championed Myth since its first launch. As a tabletop gamer, it is my World of Warcraft. Beautiful, high quality miniatures, a very solid combat system that’s easy to learn but hard to master, and upcoming expansions that will solidify the cooperative experience with structured adventures and an advancement system.
While this one started out a bit rocky, it’s the kind of game worth getting on board and I’m glad I did. For me it scratches the dungeon crawling itch without need for an adversary/Overlord/Dungeon Master.
I’m surprised by my own ranking for Colosseum, I remember liking it more than a 6. It’s been a couple years since I’ve played it, this should help convince me to remedy that.
Congrats, Paladin!
Congrats Paladin. I’m especially interested in Colosseum. I missed out in picking it up when it was available. Now its too late.
Woooooo! congrats @Paladin on Sacred Shelf Spotlightery! You know the metagame drill – spill the fave beans
