Due to an outbreak of Pledge Manager Syndrome in our household (Shadows of Brimstone: Me – because cowboys and Cthulhu are pure class and The Boy’s precious Zombicide 3 *bleh* and Fireteam Zero – more zombies???? *sheesh*) I’m sort of glad Kickstarter is an IV drip.

We both agreed that Yashima looked worth a shot as we enjoy 2 player games and tea on a chilly Sunday afternoon. It looks to have enough flavor of Battlecon and Summoner Wars to be tasty. There’s quite a bit of punch packing bonuses also.

The only other thing I’m backing is Hooch (Let’s see if BGdot Echelon let’s me post that link)

I stumbled across someone’s photos playing a custom preview copy during #GenCant and it immediately went on my radar. It really seemed a great way to get The Gatsby on. Now that it is on Kickstarter it seems to have hit a real bad patch of cryo. 🙁 I don’t know if it is general post-GenCon frost or that Pinstripe is the new Zombie as Prohibition seems to be the Cardboard du jour these days.

Talon Strikes might have a freshman campaign going but they really seem be bringing game with this game. It has a nice blend of Euro management meets Ameritrash ‘take that’. The asymmetrical syndicate play seems well conceived and integrated. The price point bang is definitely there. The glimpses I’ve seen of the ‘custom’ sets are jaw dropping. (If it wasn’t for Pledge Manager Syndrome I would be definitely counting pennies for a Hai Society set. ;)) And BGdot questers will appreciate this – they have web ‘missions’ to complete that garner you individualized custom PnP cards come endgame to slip in your game. The creators really seem to have put a lot of heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears into both the game and the campaign. I really respect that and wanted to give them a big shout out of support.

Other than that The Boy continues to roll about in retro bliss over Feng Shui and prepares for Car Wars

Heads up to any Foundation Gamers out there. Word on the street is Stevie J’s Car Wars should be hitting the Kick for reboot either this month or the next. Prepare to start your engines and load ammo.

I’m currently saving up my Kickstarter bucks for the re-print/release/boot of Age of Conan. Ares Games picked up the license from Fantasy Flight the other day and will have a Kickstarter this month to fund an expansion. Color me excited!!

Edit: October 9th!!!

Have you read the rules to King Down yet? These are the beta rules:

http://thoughtprocess.me/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/ofKingDownproto23.pdf

It already sounds pretty interesting, and I am waiting to see if he upgrades the rules in the next week or two.

There are three other reasons I’m considering backing King Down:

1) The minis look incredible and different from the norm.

2) The same designer brought us Agents…a fantastic card game.

3) I think I can possibly get a few chess players to join in this game, and maybe make them open to “other” games.

The only other games I’m backing are Vie and Daybreak.

It’s pretty quiet on the KS front.

I don’t know if I’m starting to get more picky about Kickstarter projects, but I haven’t backed anything new. The only thing I’ve backed in almost the past four weeks is Feng Shui 2 RPG. I think Gen Con spoiled me on a lot of new, good, already available games. Plus I have a number of projects either just recently delivered, or in transit: Dogs of War, Steam Donkey, EONS: Cosmic Expansions, Roll Through the Ages: The Iron Age, the Strech Goal promos from Among the Stars, and the most anticipated, Xia: Legends of a Drift System.

Backing One Night Ultimate Werewolf: Daybreak for everything but the signed print! Choose this over The Lounge: A Mafia Game as I think it’ll be more fun with larger groups.

Considering King Down, but need to look into it in more detail. Anyone have any thoughts on things that might push that decision one way or another?

My carry-overs are Coconuts Duo, King Down and Slaughterball.

I have four additions in the last 2 weeks:

Cubo & Metro: I know Queen Games gets flack from some for using Kickstarter as a pre-order and rarely having stretch goals, but I love backing them for two reasons: first, they don’t have stretch goals because the game is already in production, which means you get the game quickly; second, they are outstanding deals because they frequently add free games to make up for the lack of stretchies.

Island Dice: I backed the original cancelled campaign and I’m in again, but this one may not make it either. Really fun looking tile and dice game.

Strife: Legacy of the Eternals and Dead Drop: I don’t back enough of the “cheap” games on Kickstarter, and these two look awesome for their price range. While I’m sure Strife will fund, Dead Drop has a rougher road due to it’s higher funding goal. And while I’m highly interested in Dead Drop, I’m not really interested in the theme of the base set of cards (espionage/crime)… I’m in for the extra decks (monsters, robots, rogues, etc.) that unlock through stretch goals. We’ll see if we get there.
