After just finishing a much-needed Star Wars marathon at the Raak household, I have begun looking at ways to expand the universe in our home. I loved exploring the FFG Star Wars: X-Wing miniatures game last week, but Star Wars: Imperial Assault is more of what I’m looking for: well-integrated Star Wars theme, a variant for 2-players, and easy-to-grasp “dungeon crawl” mechanics. Quickly wish-listed!
Congrats Mike B! Star Wars: Imperial Assault looks great. I don’t own any miniatures games, but I would certainly give this one a try.
Legendary Encounters is a wonderfully thematic deck builder, and agree once the pressures on its more about fighting fires than building a specific engine. Dominion is far better suited as a solid deck builder game with no bell’s and whistles more akin to a round of Poker.
I’m waiting for the new Imperial Assault expansion before breaking my copy back out, plus I need to finish painting my mini’s.
And generally tickled to have myself explored in such a lovely manner.
Although a Deckbuilder by definition Legendary really doesn’t feel as the same genre as Dominion and others. I have a friend who doesn’t care for any sort of deck building (other then Star Realms) but loves Legendary Encounters. We’ve talked a little about it why that is, and while still unconcluded we narrowed it down to the point that you really do not have much time to prepare your deck a whole lot before the attack sets in and that it is actually one of the more thematic deckbuilders.
Imperial Assault is alright. My gaming group kinda tired itself out on this one.
We’ve been trying to get Legendary Encounters: Aliens to the table. I’m not a big deck building fan but this game looks interesting.
Hey, I have played these two games! They are lots of fun!
Sweet! Two of my recent favorites! They led the way to El Dorado and then one of my older favorites (TI3) reaped the reward of a ton of hearts!
