@Granny
I had not read any Robert E. Howard previously and got a hold of a couple of stories. You are right, this is really good stuff.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Andy – Mantic is a major reason for my reluctance as well… and I only backed Dreadball! There’s already 300 miniatures awaiting painting in my house from it, and many more are on the way.
Really trying to keep strong here…
My will has already failed and I have backed Conan. I guess I could always back out if I find a backbone, but it does look pretty darn cool.
Granny,
I’m fighting the good fight, but we’ll see how strong the will is as the timer gets closer to zero.
It helps that I get packages stuffed with minis from Mantic for different things and realize I can’t keep track of what all I have coming, or even what game a package is for.
@Andy & Account Deletion
I’m glad you guys have the will to hold out…but, man, those stretch goals keep piling up with over 6,000 backers and close to a million dollars and counting. The Bauza expansion is extra, but it comes in a box with what I assume will contain more minis, etc. Oh boy howdy!
Granny Likey!
It appears a game about Exploding Kittens is worth well over $1 million. Who knew?
Account Deletion,
If it helps, as best as I can tell, Bauza was involved with scenarios, not necessarily the game itself. The scenarios I see he is associated with will run you an additional $55.
I realize that in no way means the game won’t be great, or good value, or worth backing, but if you’re looking for support in staying strong, perhaps that will bolster your wallet defenses.
@Andy – I’m in the same predicament. I was totally content to let Conan pass, then @Granny went and screwed that up…
Granny,
I’m not liking how these discoveries of yours are making me consider backing Conan.
OK So, it turns out Antoine Bauza (Takenoko, Ghost Stories, 7 Wonders) helped design Conan. It just turned into a MUST BUY for me. In fact, my pocket caught on fire just thinking about it. This could be a real problem.
@cody.raak
If you have never read any Robert E. Howard, you are in for a treat! This is one of the best pre-Tolkien fantasy worlds you can visit.
I don’t know if Conan is a game I’d back, or even enjoy playing, with all its components and whatnot. But I am definitely looking up Robert E. Howard and reading the origin material!
The dude in the red shirt is one cool cat.
Conan looks interesting. Another example of the mini-revolution Hai mentioned in her well written Your Turn discussion. I like the look of this much better than Rum & Bones.
One of the characters, Belit, is certainly dressed in a costume ill suited for battle. Or walking. Why bother getting dressed at all? Good old women in gaming stereotype still going strong. At least Zelata is wearing clothes.
Perhaps pasties are distracting to your opponent in battle?
@Andy & Granny
I guess I am going to be losing some of my life on your cool dude in a red shirt this weekend. Thanks for that.
Granny,
Why did you have to send me searching for the cool dude in the red shirt. There goes 30-140 minutes of my day.
There should be a cool dude in a red shirt action figure. Or at least they could invite him to host the Academy Awards.
Have they made a miniature of him as a stretch goal for Conan yet?
Trying to cut back this year, especially as I get the look for all of the 2014 KS’s flooding into my house at this time. But Orleans looks to be the most interesting. And you gotta love interesting wooden shapes!
OK! So, I was not sure about Conan until I watched the rules explanation with the cool dude in the red shirt. I now want a cool dude in a red shirt robot for my game room…but will have to settle for a Conan game.
I’m also backing…
Orleans
Krakatoa
Run, Fight or Die
Exodus
Tiny Epic Whatever
Last week was dead, but there are a lot of really good options this week.
