Backing a project can be a great thing, but please do the research on a game before you put money into it. Happy exploring!

But why privateer? I wanted you so bad.
Agents here we come.
Incredibrawl looks to have some decent stretch goals, if it picks up a little in the next 9 days.
@Urosh Good point on the boxes. I was thinking the premium wood should be fine, but the heavy weight and inability to stand it on it’s side is another concern. Still debating whether or not to keep the order – also comes down to how many more expansions they may still make!
My Kickstarter was delayed due to construction issues – didn’t want to start it until we were close to opening. Looks like this delay has us no longer being the first board game cafe on KS, though I’m also learning what not to do for ours: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/313633645/gamehaus-board-game-cafe
Wow, Molly Friedrich is a class act. I’m surprised the frustrated backers don’t signup for deviant-art and start harassing her there for information. They could even private message her facebook account.
As far as Kickstarter goes… about 97% of what I fund gets completed. I have three out of a hundred that are taking FOREVER, but the other 97 are either in my hands… or on the way. My question about this particular Doom/Atlanta project is why an experienced designer and artist chose someone with no boardgame publishing experience to run a campaign for their game. Why not run it themselves? They say they got no money, but are now doing a print-and-play version. That seems almost as strange as this mysterious con-man moving to another city and cancelling the project.
However, nothing beats this lady: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1820893788/katalyka
I’m never going to see my game. 🙂
Also just read all about Erik Chevalier living off the profits and starting a new company with the money. Seriously lame.
If I owned Dominion I’d be seriously contemplating that box it looks nice, and with just a couple more thousand they will be doing some pretty awesome wood carving to it.
@Kaleb My friends and I have been discussing that KS that was cancelled since yesterday. It’s very disappointing that someone decided to use KS funds for moving cities, among other things. It’s also clear the guy is just washing his hands of things. There isn’t a clear effort there. Sad, but good solid warning to the rest of us.
As for the Dominion boxes, I like both but am worried about them being wooden boxes. Neither of them look too sturdy. Make one plastic or leather and I’m sold.
I backed Ortus Arena (check it out, they’re close to meeting goal!), VivaJava, and The Agents. I’ll be at GenCon soon, too, and am excited to see a lot in person.
Hey gang, as the backers should already know, a well-funded KS board game just went kaput. See here for the original notice from KS:

And related news story:

This is why we urge caution though hopefully this won’t hurt others (including me) when we go live on KS.
In other news, is anyone going with one of the homemade Dominion boxes on KS? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/97519099/dominion-storage-boxes-and-more
Backed Privateer, $42 for what looks to be an awesome pirate game. Actually kind of has a merchants and marauders feel to it.
I just noticed Privateer while leaving my last comment, that games looks great. Gotta back it now.
I was following the Battle Merchants ans it was just cancelled, that’s disappointing.
I’ve backed The Agents. I’m slowing down a bit on Kickstarter…as I got drained by all the games with minis. The Agents looks too good to pass up though.
I’m not surprised that The Agents is getting so much support. The game looks really cool.
Would like to see some love for Shuriken. Who doesn’t love some hot ninja fu?
One game that just went live is the Red Aegis RPG:

It’s different in that you play generations of heroes rather than one single character. I am really interested to see what it will become.
I know the authors, so I may be a bit biased, but still… looks pretty cool.
Wow, nice list of games, especially heavy on theme!! Where do I start?
I’m keeping an eye on Incredibrawl and The Agents. I’ll have to check out Zoo Fu because it just seems ridiculous – and ridiculous is often quite fun.
