This week we had two perfectly-timed spooky arrivals that will get priority: Smoothie Games’ Dark Age Z will get the unboxing treatment, and hopefully provide some zombie-bashing fun; and Kickstarter rewards for 8th Summit’s Coven are waiting patiently for attention. We’ve also played several rounds of The Little Prince: Rising to the Stars this week with a friend’s 10-year-old son, and this re-imagining of Tokaido has been a big hit that’s likely to hit the table again.
What are you playing this weekend?
We found a copy of Cards Against Humanity in our local thrift shop. I couldn’t believe how much we laughed over such a stupid game. We also got into Jaipur, Love Letter, and Dice Masters.
Codenames I should have gotten and maybe [redacted] as well as it often appears on these quizes. Having played Alien quite a lot I maybe should have been able to conclued on 5 as well. Always easier in hindsight 🙂
@stratagon
1) [redacted]
2) Codenames
3) Through the Ages
4) Legendary: Predator (Predator Mode)
5) Legendary: Predator (Human Mode)
6) War of the Ring
@Hai I think so. Time to wrap this one up.
@Stratagon Psst…should I submit my non-oblique answers?
@inmarg #3 is TTA!
And Hai practically giving that one away.
*Feeling embarassed*
TTA of course. Can’t believe I missed that.
@inmarg #6 is correct!
#3 is available on Board Game Arena… that could narrow it down somewhat.
Nice to hear the clues were on the easier side this time..
This from someone who only recognizes 6 as War of the Ring. I’ve got no clue about the first 5…
@Hai I’m cool with brain melting. And I did post a bit late this time, perhaps it is not getting correct visibility. I actually thought the clues were on the easy side.
@Strats It seems you melted brains – no one is stepping to confront Epic Game Day Quiz this month 🙁
@Hai Well full disclosure, the actual game day had limited attendance and we did not play too many different games (#4-6) so I included games played at a Meetup group and one played Friday night on Board Game Arena.
And the trickiness will either help solve multiples or really wrack some brains.
@Strats BAM! Nailed it! 🙂
2) Was rather difficult as I only have recently played it once but it was someone else’s copy and you played a bit sneaky with one of them, but technically not two of them 😉
And that was a pretty epic EPIC Game Day – you wedged in couple afternoon burners
Wow, Hai, you are really good at this quiz!!
@Hai Very clever. And all your statements are correct. They are exactly NOT any of those. 🙂
@Stratagon Wooo Epic Game Day Quiz!!! I will answer by saying what they are not 🙂
1) Not Spyfall, but sounds like it may have been a tie game
2) Not James Bond, but Q
3) Not Civilization, but a slice of history about to get a makeover
4) Not Giger in space, but a legend all its own
5) Not the same game, but the same game
6) Not a Wagner cycle war , but there can still be only one
Epic Game Day quotes (one from each game, can you guess them?):
1 – “Ok, when you two interact in the Wine Cellar, Mike in the Security Room gets to see all the card exchanges. Since Jason is in the Computer Room, he hacks Mike when this happens.”
2 – “Aquatic: 2”
3 – “I had to push that Iconoclasm through fast before Napoleon kicked my butt.”
4 – “I would need to kill all the remaining Worthy Prey to recover from all this Dishonor. At least you didn’t Duel me.”
5 – “Should we try to kill the Final Enemy or just “Get to the Choppa?””
6 – “You have been hitting all the nasty Hunt tiles. I am not sure if you will make it without being corrupted.”
I got to play a game of Forbidden Desert with my gaming group which got the best of us. One of us died of thirst and the storm buried the rest of us. Still a great time though.
I also got to try my hand at Xia: Legends of a Drift System. We only played to 5 fame points to get the hang of it. The game was just starting to kick into the next gear at that point so I can’t wait to play again to really get a feel for it.
Pandemic, Hanabi, Mr Jack, and Pandemic: The Cure made it to my table this weekend.
