What are you playing this weekend? (Jan 22)

Posted by Account Deletion {Family Gamer} | 22-Jan-16 | 42 comments

A weekend convalescing from sickness that’s run through the family might just give us the opportunity to play a few of the growing stack of games received in the last month that haven’t been played. Added to that backlog this week was Eagle-Gryphon’s gorgeous Taluva.

What are you playing this weekend?

@inmarg/stargazer Well the answers as I reckoned them:

1) Love Letter: The Priest is the Cagey Fellow
2) Chaos in the Old World
3) Resistance: Avalon
4) Letters from Whitechapel
5) Codenames

Shoot – I said g-d.Thanks BGdot Echelon. 😛

Ugh it is bothersome typing in bottom boxes away from the chatter.

@inmarg LOL Thanks – I just ran out of ways to ‘not’ Nurgle: infinity and others. Although I did step to the altar on @Stratagon’s recommendation and can see why he infects so many EGDs.

@Stargazer – EGD is Strats baby, but I kind of take it that the unwritten rule is: the closer to the next WAYPTW the more permissible the blurting without being a spoiler. @inmarg and I have had our share of answers – you are welcome to step up to the plate.

@Stargazer As for bantering Strats, I always appreciate EGDs and the @Stratagon effort but why should he miss out on the fun? Although I don’t know if forcing him to parse my oblique answers consists of ‘fun’… 😉

@Strats – A front door dusting? You did luck out – the gaming gods do smile upon EGD – I couldn’t open my front door because of drifting.

@stargazer1 You do not seem to own game #1, but you have played it! Don’t worry about spoiling the answers, eventually someone needs to.

@Strat: I’m really not good at the hinting answer thing like Hai. And I don’t want to blurt out the answers either for the sake of others. Not sure how I’ll respond. I must say that number 1 has me stumped although I recall a Nick Cage card in a game I played some years ago. The answer is rattling around my head somewhere.

@Stargazer It seems that everyone involved with site development is overwhelmed with life lately, so I wouldn’t expect too many new features.

On the other hand, EGD quizzes happen almost every month, so come along for the ride with us and feel free to guess/add to the convo.

@inmarg According to your home page, you own #1. Start browsing through your game components and look for Mr. Cage’s mug…

@ Hai

I must say that was a very impressive way of hinting at 2-5. Even being comfortable about the answers I had to look twice to see them.

I’m still lost on #1 though.

@Hai & Stratagon – It’s fun just watching your banter on Strat’s quiz. I wonder if it is possible for BG.com to do a ‘game hunt’ similar to the quiz?

@Hai Oh wow! Indeed you did. My man-brain was not looking for such clever clues hidden amidst your paragraph. If it doesn’t clobber me over the head, I miss it.

@Strats 1) Was tough – I was torn between that and Libertalia who has a bit of a Cagey chap, but too many cards mentioned. And 5) is pretty standard – but did I get 2-4 in an extremely oblique way. 😉

@Hai The epic snows stopped just short of my front door. We only had an hour of dusting. Half of my expected attendees were not as fortunate.

Sorry, the schedule didn’t make for too exciting of a quiz this month. But your guess for number 1 is correct! And you did it in the style of number 5!

Now who is going to fill in the answers…

@Stratagon Epic Game Day survived the epic snows. WOO!

1) is the only one that gives me pause. 2-5 are pretty easy, but ripping through the quiz is no fun, so I will resist. Besides after a weekend of shoveling chaos, I don’t even think I can come up with my standard codes.

The problem is if you squint hard enough Nic Cage’s mug can cameo on so many cards. I’m thinking of one small game and one bigger game in particular where things seem rather ‘Cagey’. I’m going with the smaller one and the original skin and saying:

Priest:2 as my guess.

Epic Game Day quotes (one from each game, can you guess them?):

1 – Despite looking like Nicholas Cage, this card is the least powerful of the seven in my opinion.

2 – This three player game will be odd without Nurgle. He is so easy to attack in the populous regions.

3 – Merlin, open your eyes.

4 – If we utilize the information from the three previous nights, we can triangulate the data to narrow down his hideout to four locations.

5 – Baseball: 3
