This Week’s Explorable Games
This round of Explorable Favorites is from BoardGaming.com member Lone Token. The games selected from their Favorites shelf were:
- Eldritch Horror
Fantasy Flight Games | Published: 2013 - Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game
Plaid Hat Games | Published: 2014
These games will be explorable until next Monday, February 9th.
After you’ve explored these games, let us know what you think about them in the comments below!
I agree with @Game Ninja- thanks @Account Deletion for doing this every week. It’s a great incentive to explore games I might not have checked out myself if I’d seen them in passing.
So, Eldrich Horror takes Lovecraft on a globetrotting tour, Arkham Horror focuses on investigator efforts in the town of Arkham and Elder Signs is only concerned with events in the museum.
So, let’s see if we can really drag this out. Everytime you visit a location in Eldrich Horror, you need to play a game of Arkham Horror to determine how things shake out there. While visiting locations while in town, you play games of Elder Signs to pass them.
I will give a shiny nickel to anyone insane enough (and with enough time and tablespace on their hands) to somehow make this work.
You know, I was being pretty facetious when I started typing that, but now that I put it down, it seems to me that doing some sort of live stream of that nightmare might make for an interesting fundraiser for something like Extra Life or Child’s Play or the like.
@Lone Token Congrats on being this week’s Sacred Shelf Spotlight! (I hope you stop by and play the Explorable House Rules meta game. I’m interested to hear why these make you faves, especially with your namesake ‘Solo Stance’ :))
Two great games in my book! Even though Eldritch Horror was last year’s Fantasy Flight Holiday Squeaker Release I would consider both of these Top Releases for The ‘014.
Eldritch Horror is not necessarily an Arkham reboot, but it certainly is a more comfortable shoe. I do feel like I am accomplishing more before the world ends in thrashing tentacle apocalypse. We like to call it Arkham Start-or.
And anyone who knows me, knows I write secret love letters to Sheriff Anderson (poster-sized on my half of the Game Den *dreamy*) and Last Night on Earth. Dead of Winter breaks new cemetery ground as the not-zombie zombie game. Tense. Traitory. Desperate. Rich in theme and story. Who knew cold canned food could be so yummy? I am excited to see what happens when Crossroads hits space.
Two great explorable games! @Account Deletion – Thanks for keeping this a regular thing 🙂
