What are you playing this weekend? (Feb 15)

Happy (late) Valentine’s day! This weekend we’ll be continuing down the path of the light and dark side with Star Wars: The Card Game, and then going on adventures and quests with D&D: Lords of Waterdeep.

Did anyone play games for Valentine’s day with a special someone? And as always… What are you playing this weekend?

Everyone in our Wednesday night group loves Lords of Waterdeep, so I think it’s safe to assume that will hit the table. Merchants and Maurauders has been requested lately so it looks like it will be time to hit the high seas also!

Coop games session planned tonight with Pandemic and Red November for sure, then maybe Yggdrasil and Thunderstone Advance with the Root of Corruption expansion which introduces cooperative play.

Just bought Mice & Mystics last night so tomorrow is an all day session of that! And tonight I might fancy myself in a single player version of Pandemic :)

Sadly nothing. It has been a barren week.

Instead I wrote a review and posted it on Boardgaming.com.

I’m very excited about going over to my local shop for game night tonight. Don’t know what I’m going to play but they like to bust out some games I’ve never even heard of.

My weekend gaming starts off this evening with a session of Pathfinder. Tomorrow I have plans to pick up a copy of Alhambra, and hopefully I’ll be able to play it tomorrow as well. Or possibly on Sunday; it really depends on how schedules work out.

Monday is a holiday, so my brother and I have been making plans for a game day. He has Puerto Rico and Power Grid (neither of them played yet), and he’s requested that I bring Lords of Waterdeep and Race for the Galaxy. I’ll probably also bring along my copy of Hive since it’s so portable, even though it is only a two-player game. Which games will actually be played on Monday is still up in the air, of course.

My birthday is next Friday so I’m thinking about hitting up my game store and picking up something totally new. Any suggestions?

@unclebusu Based on your collection, it looks like you lean more towards casual games (correctly chosen gamer type), with an occasional strategy game mixed in.

On the casual side:

Pandemic or Forbidden Island are both excellent cooperative games. you could use one of these.

King of Tokyo and Smash-Up are a couple of great casual games I don’t see in your collection.

For strategic games:

Lords of Waterdeep or Stone Age are nice worker placement games. Currently, I’m enjoying Kingdom Builder which was designed by the creator of Dominion (which I recommend if you haven’t played a lot of deck building games yet – I’m burnt out, but loved them for a couple years).

Also… I’m going to highly recommend Samurai Sword. It’s a casual game based on the Bang! mechanics, but easier to learn and play right away. I think you’ll love it… and it’s BRAND NEW.
