This round of Explorable Favorites is from BoardGaming.com member Utter Loser. The games selected from their Favorites shelf were:
- Pandemic: On the Brink
Z-Man Games | Published: 2009 - Kings of Air and Steam
Tasty Minstrel Games | Published: 2013
These games will be explorable until next Monday, March 2nd
After you’ve explored these games, let us know what you think about them in the comments below!
I am interested in looking closer at Kings of Air and Steam. I have a copy of Pandemic that I got for Christmas that I still have yet to have an opportunity to crack open, so I think I should do that before looking at expansions.
Both are interesting looking games. HaiKulture has not weighed in yet, so I am going to ask in her place that you play the meta game as a live action user and tell us more about why these are on your favorite shelf.
@Utter Loser
It has always been random in the past. It does seem that over the past few months that the chosen users tend to be active. I am sure that Account Deletion could tell us for certain if anything has changed.
Thanks all for the congratulations. Anyone have a clue how people are chosen for this? Is it random?
Grats Utter Loser.
Interesting choices. Will enjoy this exploration.
I haven’t played either but a guy in my gaming group just bought Pandemic so I guess I’ll get the chance pretty soon.
And a game by TMG have to be great! Love Belfort and Harbour look like a fun game too (only played the solo variant that wasn’t very good). Going to play it 2-player on sunday at least.
Very interesting expansion and game. Thanks!
I wondered why I logged in to a bunch of new likes to my Kings of Air and Steam review. ☺
@SP:
Absolutely get On the Brink! The additional role cards, special events and play modes have made Pandemic a game that I will never get rid of. The replay value is immense.
@anm:
Definitely try Pandemic when you get the chance, expansion or otherwise. It’s a big name in games for good reason. It’s approachable enough to be a fantastic gateway game (or gateway cooperative game), but complex enough to keep you engaged, game after game.
I have yet to play Pandemic, even though it sounds like something I’d like, and reading about the expansion has made me even more interested!
I’ve never heard of Kings of Air and Steam, but it sounds intriguing. Granny’s review mentioned it being in the same realm as Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride (both of which I love), so I’ll have to add this one to the list as well!
Congrats Utter Loser!
We’ve had Pandemic for a few years now but have always been on the fence about getting the expansion. I was under the impression that On the Brink would turn Pandemic from a cooperative game to a competitive game, where it’s mostly just me an @GameNinja playing together. It’s cool to see that this doesn’t have to be the case.
I’ve never seen Kings of Air and Steam, it looks like a nifty pick up and deliver game.
