Arkham Horror

I got this game for Christmas, intending it for solo play. It’s a bit long for family game night. After soloing it, my 22-year old son began pressing me to play. I don’t know what sparked his interest — he’s never read Lovecraft — but he’s very interested. Our first 2-player game will be this afternoon.

As far as the game itself, it’s gorgeous. The board is big and well made. The cards are sturdy with great artwork.

Since I plan on solo play, I really like the replayability. There are so many combinations of investigators, monsters, and gods that I can play many, many games before I repeat. Then I buy expansions. 🙂

I play a lot of games with my family. This is one of the few games that my 24-year old son will call and ask if we can get in a couple scenarios. He plays a lot of video games but few board games, so I was surprised to see this one grab his attention.

Personally, I love the quick play, short rulebook, soloability, and the character leveling mechanic. It scratches a D&D itch where I can sit down solo for a couple hours and bang out 2-4 scenarios.
