The biggest draw for me was the asymmetrical gameplay structure. Having played Magic: the Gathering for nearly a decade, this game lit a fire in me and reignited my love for strategy card games.

The game is easy to learn, but hard to master (that old shoe). It’s fun to construct decks and play both sides. The gameplay of the Runners (hackers) and the Corporations is completely different. This creates a unique experience in that each player is essentially playing their own strategy as opposed to mirroring or reacting to the other’s machations.

I love this game!

It’s streamlined and well constructed. There is little chance of seeing the same cards two games in a row. That being said, you may require some of the expansion sets if this game gets a lot of table time, as facing the same Elder One may become slightly predictable.

This is a co-op game. This means that there needs to be good communication and coordination amongst the players. The game allows a player to go out on their own and horde artifacts and spells while leaving the others to their fate. Not only will this draw the ire of other players, but also the wraith of the Elder One.

This is one of my most favourite board game of all time. If you’ve never played any of the other Arkham, H.P Lovecraft themed games by FFG and you want one heck of a challenge you’ll talk about afterwards, this is the game for you. If you’re an Arkham or Elder Sign veteran, you may appreciate the streamlining and attention to detail that FFG put into this game.
