I will have to agree with the method to teach as the above poster. Playing a demo round will help out a lot. Also, make sure the players know they need to commit to finish the game, as it is not one that can keep playing with a dropped player or even possibly a swap out.
There are very numerous strategies to take when playing this game. You just have to be flexible. One of the biggest mistakes it to lock yourself in to a part of the city you want to dominate, and not adjust to what the other players are doing. Pay attention!
Finally, it can sometimes be to your advantage to use the event (black) dice to eat up dice from your opponents. So don’t always jump to kill them all off to gain influence.
