I was very excited to get this game. I broke it out, struggled through the rules over several sessions until I have it figured out. I took it to game night where I knew my War game friends were going to have a grand time with it. Half way through the first game, one of the players said “Hey, this is just Zombiecide with a different skin. It’s Nazicide !” That ended the game with laughter and a vow by that group to not play it again. MAYBE, if I invested in a box load of WW II miniatures, got them all painted up, they MIGHT consider it for another play, but probably not. This ended sitting on the shelf, collecting dust, until I was able to trade it away.

This is an easy game to learn and the strategic level of play kicks in very very quickly. A great game for beginners to tabletop games. Kids can play with adults without dumbing down the game play. There are already a couple of expansions, one adds a way of having a 5th player. This is a great option for game night, the more the merrier. The varied layout and scoring methods in the base set allow for a great amount of replay value. Many of our game night sessions have multiple plays of Sagrada. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

I saw this at Dice Tower West 2019 and was delighted to finally get to play it. It took two days before I got a game in, there were 4 copies in use, and the convention floor was open 24 hours a day (a Las Vegas casino never closes). That’s how popular this game is. I love engine builders and this is one that the theme is acceptable to a wider audience. My wife is willing to sit down to play this one anytime. The artwork is fantastic, the components are very nice and the storage system is brilliant. Having a packing diagram printed on the box is a stroke of genius.

The adaptation of the card game to digital is executed brilliantly. The game play is smooth and the learning curve for the mechanics is very short. There is nothing to get confused about with the screen arrangement, it just all makes perfect sense. Playdeck has a 5 Star winner here. You can play against live opponents or bots. Up to 4 players, and the bots play a very competitive game, victory is never a sure thing. There are expansions and promo cards available for purchase, but the price point is very reasonable, especially when compared to the analog game. The ability to set up and get playing in seconds make this an even better value. If you like the analog version, you must give this a try, you will not regret it.

Richard Borg’s Command & Colors system never fails to provide a wonderful game experience. I have played games in the entire system from BattleCry to The Great War and have loved them all. This version is no exception, you get the feel of warfare in the ancient world that plays in a decent amount of time. Scenarios are best played twice, switching sides and comparing the margin of victory, to ensure a balance of results. Who was better at dealing with the less then advantageous position ?
