Game Updates on BoardGaming.com

The traditional Twelve Days of Christmas start on Christmas Day, December 25th, and continue through Twelfth Night, January 5th. On this, the fifth day, we celebrate the birth of actress Alison Brie. 😀

On the Fifth Day of Christmas, BGdot gave to me:

FIVE… ELDER… THINGS!

FIVE... ELDER... THINGS!

Four CCGs,
Three for the kids,

By this point in the cycle I’d run out of interesting sounding Feasts, so I set out a plate of Brie instead.

Let’s not forget the definitive version courtesy of H.P. Lovecraft and The Muppets: A Christmas To’render

Five…Elder…Things… (Ia! Ia! Ia!)

This was an interesting list because:

1) I realized hot holiday lister of last year Eldritch Horror doesn’t get enough Table Time in our group and we need some expansions (and FFG Dunwichily birthed two in the past year. Clever boys.)

2) I went digging in the card game bin thinking we had Chez Cthulhu but we didn’t – just Chez Goth. That needs to be rectified (along with The Stars are Right), but it was nice to dust off Gilly the Perky Goth over the holidays as I took her on my road trip. She now lies less buried with Dork Tower and her mini.

3) Unspeakable Words was another forgotten gem. It got put back on shelf circulation. It’s a fun ‘party’ game filler. I might introduce it to The Nieces who are not strangers to the Mythos courtesy of plushie Cthulhus from yours truly and my stuffie Hound of Tindalos, Baskerville, who wakes them up on occasion when they sleep over.

4) Allison Brie probably is a gamer at heart and would be fun at the table. Her Mad Men husband looks like a greasy Wil Wheaton and we know from Community that she’s a rather *ahem* imaginative role player.

5) Down in R’lyeh deep Cthulhu doesn’t so much lie dreaming as printing money for quite some time

@Andross I know it got The Boy’s fingers (and tentacles) twitching. And I know it did because of that very sentenced mentioned. I don’t know if he backed it because of the pricey-ness at the time, but I’m sure he did. I not – I’m sure he would be happy to squeeze in at your table.

Anyone else here excited for Achtung! Cthulhu: The Secret War next year? It’s a board game based on the RPG of the same name by designer Kevin Wilson. The theme and setting is WW2 meets Cthulhu. That last sentence alone should have sold you on the game, and if it didn’t, I don’t want to game with you.

I have to say that I’m loving the style of these updates and am really looking forward to seeing the rest of them. I’ve not been able to add anything to my collection yet, but we’ve another week yet to go, and more games each day… 🙂
