In days past whenever I was loyal to the resistance I usually found myself revealing all of my knowledge to the group all the time.

The issue I found was that the spies could see I was catching on and would either turn others against me or they knew what I was on to them and would change their tactics.

I have found that keeping all my accusations to myself until the third or fourth round usually helps me build my case. I have basically stopped some games and announced that I have held my accusations until now and have evidence A, B, and C which means Player 1 and 2 are spies.

The main idea is let the spies think they are in the clear but follow their actions very carefully and let them make multiple mistakes. Take a mental note and then throw down your entire case to the group at one time. It can be very effective.

I have used this strategy to catch many spies in the past.

If you accuse another player of being a spy with little known evidence and 1 – 2 players latch on to your accusation and agree with you then you almost always have a spy on your hands.

Usually the spies are eager to have the target off their back and tend to agree with others accusations so they don’t have to make their own. Loyal players just don’t have the information especially early on and tend not to jump on others accusations as quickly.

Whenever I have done this and someone agrees with my faulty accusation I usually ask them why they agree with me. I wait for their answer and then explain how my reasoning makes very little sense. It’s pretty convincing to the rest of the loyal players who the spies are at that point.

All of the player variable mats in this game are pretty well balanced with the exception of #8.

From what I can tell it can have around a 20 point advantage. I usually give this board to the newest player without mentioning anything just so they can get a good end score.
