Smash Up: Munchkin

This expansion and the Cthulu expansions were by far my least favorite pre-purchase. Had no interest in either of these and I actually did not plan on buying them.
After a recent gift card given to us, I got on the web and found this for less than $12. I was stoked and purchased it.

We just played it over our lunch break and I was really impressed with it.
I was Warrior-Thieves and won the game. The monsters and treasures played well.
There is A LOT going on but it is still fun.

This is a necessary thing to get if you plan on enjoying Smash Up. I thought it was going to be casual. NO. This game is so fun. Replay value is unbelievably high. SO many combinations to choose from. The world is big on BGG and Wiki. It is so fun to play random factions, choose factions, let opponents choose for you!

This Big Geeky Box is sturdy, easy to store everything, and has great art.

The dividers make it easy to sort however you would like to.

My only issue would be no storage for the counter (I just used a sandwich baggie), and all of my rules books are bent to fit in there. I guess I do not have to keep all of the rule books in there, but I like to have them for reference if anybody has questions.

I am so looking forward to getting the new expansion in the Fall!

Happy Smashing

I bought this very quick after it came out. I don’t have many people who want to play Smash Up with me (losers) so I have only played it a few times. I have played with all of them except the Mythic Greeks. This is why I gave it a 3 star for easy to learn. The minions have an ability that is difficult to understand.

I love the Sharks. I love the superheroes. The fifth faction is cool as well. I won’t spoil what it is.

Spoiler alert: Sharknados is a possibility!!

I like how the superheroes work and love the expansion. Glad they added the dividers to it so I can store this in my Big Geeky Box with ease!

Great job AEG

This is a good expansion. All of the factions fit together well. The Giant Ants seemed to be out of place for me personally but the dynamics of the cards work very well with the other factions in this expansion. Our game club at school plays this game very often. We have mixed in the bases but mostly play with these factions mixed with a few of their favorites from the base game. Mixing all of the factions together is really fun. I played with just Monster Smash factions and it was different but also enjoyable (I won with Mad Scientists and Werewolves vs. Giant Ant and Vampires). I am looking forward to growing my collection after my birthday. Big Geeky Box and Science Fiction are next on the purchase list!

This game is a lot of fun. It combines many things that nerds all love. Zombie Dinos? Alien Robots? This has been a hit at our Game Club here at school. Love how you can mix and match different factions and it is always different play. Just purchased 2 expansions. Have not had a chance to try them out, but excited about the different game play that will happen.

At first seems like a game that would be easy to learn, but with a lot of triggers, it is hard to follow for inexperienced gamers. My wife did not like it that much, but she is not as nerdy as I am. The Monster Smash expansion is different than the base game. Lots of power counters involved. Not sure how it plays yet. Awesome Level 9000 is in the mail and should be here tomorrow.

If you do not have much money to spend, this is also a good game. It is cheap and expansions are also cheap. This game is not too lengthy and perfect for quick fun games.

This game was fun. I played the LotR (Fellowship of the Ring) Deck Builder first and I thought that was a little better honestly. I thought about this on my way in to work this morning; this game would be better if it had cards that could stop the other players from making big plays. If there is a person about to get the villain, I could play a card during his turn to stop that. THAT would make the game a little bit more strategic and IMO more fun.
