One thing I look for when I’m playing games is the feeling that I have actually done something with the time being invested. I also like to feel like playing something new, having new experiences. Both of these things happens in Betrayl at House on the Hill.

The exploration mechanic in which we are discovering each room of this weird house that we have never been before just fits. After all, every time you play it is probably a different house. Also the idea of you don’t knowing your ‘win condition’ helps to put you in the theme. You feel like one of these people that were asked to check this mansion to see what is going on.

And then, when the haunt happens, the scenarios are really fun and creative. Sometimes the “traitor” has all the good items, sometimes no one have anything, sometimes no one knows who the traitor is, and so on and so forth. And there is 50 different scenarios! It is great. It is never the same experience when you play this one, even if you only play with the same group.

My one only down side is for the player card component. In fact, not the card, the counter peg. This thing is very loose and it is hard to keep track of your traits. You’ll probably have to add something in the card or the peg itself to make it more effective. Other than that, amazing game. One of the best games I’ve played.
