This is a great filler game, with a lot of action, little downtime, and fun strategy. The card-passing mechanic is very unique, and makes strategizing a lot of fun. The only downfall of the game is that it loses a lot of its luster with less than 4 players. The more people you have for this game, the better!

This is a good solo game, and has great value for its price. It really captures the feel of the Space Hulk theme in a quick, thrilling, intense experience. It’s also quite difficult; don’t expect to win very much!

Although this game is a bit on the light side (and heavy on luck), it is a surefire party-pleaser and fun to play with the family, assuming your family members don’t mind being eaten by sharks!

I’ve only played this once, but the game left me with a really good first impression. The miniatures are beautifully crafted, and the game mechanics make for an experience that is loaded with strategy, tactics, and of course some luck. Although I am not an avid miniature wargamer by any means, I can see why games like this are so popular. If you have the chance to try this game out, I highly recommend it.

If you like science fiction, space marines, and/or aliens, then this game is for you. Beautifully produced game whose theme meshes perfectly with game play. The game must be played in order to fully appreciate the experience. Could not be more highly recommended.

A great game to play if you have about an hour to kill and don’t want to think too much. The artwork and gameplay may turn some off, but I rather enjoy it. It’s fun to bring to the table every once in a while.

Many people stay away from this game because of the math-heavy strategies and the need to really think ahead and plan your strategy, but I personally love these aspects of the game. Nothing feels better than planning your upcoming turn, grabbing the resources you need, powering just the right amount of cities, and expanding your power-giving empire even further!

A must-have for avid Pandemic players. The components add a lot to the base game, not to mention the added player roles, and the wonderful addition of the bio-terrorist, for those who want to add a bad-guy role to the game.

Easily the best cooperative game I’ve played. The card shuffling mechanics and teamwork, strategy, and planning ahead necessary to do well at this game make it an instant classic. I’ve played this with my wife and friends over 150 times, and although it has grown a bit stale, it is still one of my highest ranking games of all-time.

If you like board games, and you like pirates, then this game is for you! A beautiful board, ships, and other components make it visually stunning. The game play is great also, and harkens back to Sid Meier’s classic “Pirates!” A player has a choice between taking the role of the trade-loving merchant, or the plundering pirate. You can even switch your strategy midgame, taking on a new role if your character dies an early death, or when you upgrade to a new ship. Overall, this is a great game, and highly recommended.

My wife and I have logged over 160 games of Pandemic, so when this game came out, we were anxious to try it out. Unfortunately, the game ended up being a little too simple for us after enjoying the complexities of Pandemic for so long. I would still highly recommend this game for lighter gamers, or as a game to introduce to non-gamers.

This game showed so much promise. Awesome minis, beautiful dungeon tiles, and a great theme. Unfortunately, the game mechanics leave a lot to be desired… It feels like you are playing against a system, and against time, always reacting to events and monsters, rather than formulating a plan and/or strategy. Fun at first, but quickly loses its appeal. That said, the game is still almost worth buying just for the components.

Dominion

Although I agree with sentiments that Dominion has over-expanded and sucked the life out of a game that was beautiful in its simplicity and speed. That said, the original game (and the Intrigue expansion) are must-haves for those who like deck-building games.

Dominion: Intrigue

Intrigue is the only must-have expansion for Dominion players, in my opinion. Subsequent expansions suffer from lengthening Dominion game times and adding over-complicated rules and potential chains. Intrigue is from an age before Dominion became overly-laden with the special effects and chains of too many expansions.

Agricola

Agricola is one of the greatest boardgames of all-time, and an instant recommendation to anyone who likes to game. Although Agricola admittedly is even more fun after adding special meeples (animeeples, resourcemeeples, farmeeples, etc), the base game is still quite nice to look at. The main drawback for the game is that it is a bit complex. Those who are not gamers may find it a bit difficult at first, but it is quite easy to teach to those who are familiar with eurogames.
