During non-combat spins we usually just roll the dreidel rather than spin it to speed up the game. It does not affect game play and you are not stuck watching a long spin (if you have talented spinners like us) during the hex map stage. My spins can easily last 30 seconds if I am trying and on the hex map I must take 10 to 20 spins per game I would guess which could add five to ten minutes to the total game time. Simply rolling the dreidel like a die will cut that time down significantly if you are in a rush. The game does not take long to play as it is. Doing this makes it even shorter which is good for a fun light game unless you like the suspense of the long spin which does have its perks.
