As a former 3.5player I will say this- (PF=3.75) It’s just like 3.5… but better.

PF cleans up a lot of the slop that 3.5 just couldn’t take on after the 3rd edition bomb went off. Let’s face it 3.5 was a fix to third edition…. Now Pathfinder is the beautification to 3.5. It’s easier to understand, looks better, just as adaptable to any kind of campaign, AND I DON’T HAVE TO FIND A GRAVE TO DIG IT OUT OF!!!

Sorry but you 3.5 guys sometimes kill me with your obsessive qualities to that game! PF also requires less work for most GM’s if you don’t mind paying a little to enhance gameplay. You don’t need the Game Master’s guide to play PF… but…. it’s too good not to buy it 😉

This game is a blast, currently being printed and updated. This is a great game for beginners and a nice shot for you grumpy old toots!

Generally I enjoy RPGs like D&D and Pathfinder but this is one of my exceptions. Magic: The Gathering is one of the most popular “trading card” games on the market. It’s been out for over a decade and will most likely be out for a few more. With that being said- new decks continue to roll out on a regular basis.

The initial cost to start up a small MTG collection generally runs around $50 to even $200! (This is just the beginning!) Then buy a couple deck boxes, dice, card protectors, card binders, card storage containers, a play mat, decorative deck boxes….. you get my point.

The game is a ton of fun. It uses many strategic mechanics to gain the edge over other “planes walkers”. There are many styles of play as well as many different kinds of decks. If you are looking to go pro (talk to someone else) you will probably want a couple of thousand bucks in the bank just to go buy the 100 must have cards that you will need!

For someone coming back after a loooooong break or even newbies- pay attention to the rules. This game is a “rules lawyer” type of game. You will now know all the ins and outs of magic in just a few hours. This game will take time to master. (probably more than I have since I have yet to master it =P)

Just wanted to write up an honest review. Thanks for looking and swing by a game store for a test play (they usually have decks you can “borrow” as a play test). Take it easy!
