Go to the Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game page

One of the reasons we got this card deck building game was cause my husband is highly into Marvels and we thought this would be a great addition to the household. Rules and instructions were pretty clear although I did find it weird with regards to ‘using the cards you discarded the previous round as your new deck’ concept for quite a bit.

The coop idea was good, although like other previous players have mentioned, apart from taking over the villains, at the end of the game, whoever happens to have the higher victory points ‘wins’.

The difficulty of this game varies greatly. My husband and I have won and lost the game almost equal to one another. Some scheme twists are super duper hard (for instance if you draw the twist card in your turn, you have to knock out all the heroes that are available for recruit and put 5 new ones) as well as having Mastermind villain with a really high defence level (such as Dr. Doom and Loki). Due to the different variety of mastermind, scheme twist, heroes and villains, each gameplay will vary from one another, which is great as it adds a new twist to every gameplay.

I will certainly buy the expansions later once my husband and I have defeated the current masterminds and scheme twists and would highly recommend it to others who are into Marvel.

Oh and btw, organising the cards after the game takes FOREVER. I truly appreciate the designers of the game in providing card dividers however, wish there is some sort of a machine that would allow us to separate the cards on their own rather than putting them into different piles based on the hero cards each time.

I don’t quite understand why this game has quite a low rating. For me, I found this card game very simple to understand and can be quite comical along the way. Especially if you’ve tried the digital iOS version (only $0.99) the sound effects and all are super cute and hilarious that my husband and I occasionally repeat the sounds while in the card game too.

It does require some sort of strategy along the way where you have to figure out the best way to eliminate another player, but it’s not super hard and all; usually will take just a few seconds per turn.

We found it best to play the game where there’s more than two people; the more the better as you can happily ‘attack’ or plot against someone specific in the game (especially when you start slapping each other and the slaps keeps continuing on to an enormous amount between the two of you).

Just try it first on the app (its super worth the 99 cents, and $1.99 for the extra deck which we absolutely love) and see if you’d like the proper card game itself.

Go to the Ticket to Ride: Asia page

Ticket to Ride Asia expansion is our first expansion for the original game as my husband and I kind of got a little bit bored with the original map so this expansion really helped us to ‘refresh’ things out. The reason we chose this expansion was due to it being labeled as ‘Number 1’ (sequence wise, not rating) and we are hoping to buy the rest of the expansion sequence within the following months.

We really love how this expansion provided us a card mounting board thing so we can have our cards placed up rather than holding them. Also there’s two sides of the map, one allowing 2-4 players to play on it while the other side, 4-6 players that can work in teams. We haven’t tried the one with team play, but we’re already content with the basic play map already 🙂

I love how this game allows you to play on your own (with 2 AI), or local/online with other people, (e.g. I would play local with my husband plus 1 AI). This digital game really introduced the game well to us and we love it so much that we decided to buy the board game, that was till we realised it requires a third person which we don’t normally have.

I also like how this game would allow you to play while you’re traveling, such as in flights and so on. It’s a pity it only lasts like around 30 minutes, but it’s good for those ‘let’s just play for a bit’ moment rather than really having a proper sit down and play for hours sort of thing.

It’s well worth the download and would recommend it to anyone who’d like to have a multiplayer game with someone else through the mobile and all.

I was initially skeptical at first on purchasing this game, however my husband was really convinced by the storekeeper on how ‘amazing’ it is and since he is a fan of historical events, he decided to purchase it.

The first night we took the game home, we could NOT understand a single thing from the rulebook (mind you, we are both University graduates with English as our first language). We even tried to watch some tutorial videos of it on youtube but still could not understand a single thing.

We gave up that night, however since it was such a pricey game and was ranked really highly on the boardgamegeek site, I was determined to learn it and see what’s so great about it. The next day I found a youtube video with regards to the tutorial, over an hour long which REALLY, REALLY clarified EVERYTHING out. I am not kidding, hands down, the best tutorial of the game I have ever found and worth watching for those who needs further clarifications on the rules (search up BGRWJ 008 on youtube, it’s the one that’s 1:11 hours long).

The same night we watched the video, we tried playing the game, and found it unbelievably amazing. Next day I got more interested in historical events (which I never was) and even decided to read up more on the history of the events on the cards. Super fun way to learn about the Cold Wars really. I liked how this game really makes you think about the future consequences of your actions.
