Baseball Highlights: 2045
Playing Baseball Highlights: 2045 is like watching TV highlights of early 21st-century baseball games, with the game play being full of theme with no outs or innings and without bogging down in a play-by-play baseball simulation. In this quick and interactive game, two players build their teams as they play, combining both strategy (building your team) and tactics (playing the game) without any of the downtime.
During each "mini-game", each player alternates playing six cards to simulate a full game's highlights. The mini-game includes defensive and offensive actions, and your single card play may include elements of defensive and/or offensive plays. Do you try to thwart your opponent's pending hits, put up strong offensive action of your own, or use your better players to do both? Players buy new free agents after each mini-game to improve their roster, and the team who wins the most mini-games in the series is the champ!

Fast, fun and dynamic sport game.
First of all, I have to say that I don’t like to watch baseball, actually I don’t even know all the game rules. Just to know, I’m Brazilian and we don’t have baseball teams here. I do love sports and, of course, board games.
Usually I don’t like sports games because they tend to be boring and slow paced. The big home run in this game was the Highlights ideia. We are not simulating a full baseball game, we are reproducing the television highlights. Take off all the boring innings and go straight through the action. Thats the real Home Run.
So, in this board game, the whole baseball match happens in a six card duel. Each gamer start with a starter team, with rookies and veterans players. After each match, gamers could draft better players (Free Agents) and improve their team. After a few matches (usually three) and respectively buy rounds, gamers set to World Series. First to win four matchs is the World Series Champion, the best baseball team of all time (until the next season).
The whole game (buy rounds and World Series) lasts least than an hour for two gamers. With four gamers (9 game season with playoffs) lasts around two hours. You could also play the solo game, that lasts around 40 minutes.
I want to play it everytime I can. I really love it.
I am a big fan of sports games – have played them since the 1970s. This is a unique take on that genre. Even if you are not a fan of sports or baseball, this is a game you should take a look at.
The deck-building aspects are what makes it so fun. Love starting with one of the pre-made teams and then “drafting” players between games.
Object of the game is to score the most runs in a 6 inning game. Each inning consists in each player playing one card. Each card can have one or more of the following features: hits, defense, quick result, running speed. Each card is either a Natural (better at defense), cyborg (better at pitching), or robot (better at hitting).
The only drawback is it takes getting used to the turn sequence which can be a bit confusing at first.
Can a play a seven game series in 30-45 minutes.
