This game is solid, well-designed, easy to learn/grasp, and quite fun. It is a game of worker and tile placement where you try to complete roads, cities and farms for points. Players cannot place a worker on a road, city or farm where another player’s worker is located. Thus, you end up with people competing to lay their tile just far enough away to try and claim their “share” of the road, city or farm.

The rules are very simple, but the farms may be quite complicated to understand for the first 1-3 games. The strategy is simple and easily grasped. The game thrives with the expansions “Inns and Cathedrals” and “Traders and Builders”.

One way we’ve used to increase the strategy in our groups is to have each player draw 3 tiles and choose which one to place. These tiles remain in hand, and additional tiles are drawn to replace those lost. This adds another level of depth to the game, and makes it more fun for seasoned players.

Overall, a fantastic game and highly recommended.
