Every picture tells a story – but what story will your picture tell?
Dixit is the lovingly illustrated game of creative guesswork, where your imagination unlocks the tale. In this award-winning board game, players will use the beautiful imagery on their cards to bluff their opponents and guess which image matches the story. Guessing right is only half the battle – to really succeed, you’ll have to get your friends to decide that your card tells the story!

Every turn, the storyteller will call out a short phrase or word to match the image on his card. Then each player will choose the card that most closely matches that phrase, and then everyone must guess which card the storyteller saw when he invented his brief tale. Correctly guess the storyteller’s card, and you’ll move ahead. Convince everyone else that your card is best, and you’ll do even better.

Dixit is a wonderfully simple game, playable by nearly anyone with whom you share a common language. With a fantastic range of beautiful illustrations and rules that can be understood by children and adults alike, Dixit will appeal to anyone with an imagination. It’s no surprise that Dixit won the Spiel de Jahres award for game design in 2010. It is brilliant and simple, beautiful and imaginative, and fun for all.

“Apples To Oranges”

As party games go, this one provides a wonderful way to get people talking and interacting right from the word go. The scoring mechanism seems a little counterintuitive to some players, to begin with, but a few rounds and they tend to “get it” quite quickly. There’s a limited number of cards, and if you regularly play with the same people then there’s a tendency for the stories told of these to become somewhat stale, but it’s still a wonderfully light-hearted and fun casual/social game.

“Fatasy and Fun”

If you want a game in which you can use your fantasy and test the feeling with your mates, Dixit is a very good solution. I played it a lot of times with different groups of players and this game always works well. I like to see how different groups describe the same card in different ways: it’s very fun.
If you play with the same group of players, expansions are necessary because the deck includes only 84 cards and after playing it several times you start to know how your mates describe the cards. I think Dixit is a “MUST HAVE” because is good for all the kinds of players.

“Enjoy Apples to Apples? This is better.”

This is one of the games I use to hook people into playing board games. Easy to play, learn, and teach it is a great entryway to gaming. Every person I have shown this game to has since gone out and bought a copy of their own. I only gave the replay value a 4 since you really need all of the expansions so you don’t keep seeing the same cards.

“Imagination run rampant”

This game is pretty fantastic when playing with fairly creative or imaginative people.

However I have had a few play sessions fall flat due to several players completely lacking the imaginative/narrative skills needed to really make the game shine.

“Greaty party game”

If you’ve ever played baulderdash this is pretty much the same concept except you choose a picture and tell a one or few word story. Others try to pick from their pictures to try and best match that story and hope that others choose theirs.

Great for party its a light simple game.

“All my friends enjoyed it.”

This is one of those rare games where everyone I know actually enjoyed it.

Most games, we have one or two people who are like “Eh, I’d rather not play again.” Then again, most games also have one or two people who are like “YEAH THAT WAS AWESOME!!!” — seriously. They speak three exclamation points. It’s very strange. This game just had a whole lot of people like “Yeah, I had fun, I’d play that again.”

Looking at the scores of reviewers here, I feel like that may be more universal. I see no 10s, and nothing below a 6? I think this game is just a generally well-received game that isn’t amazing but really is good.

A good buy if you like the artwork and interesting social game mechanics.

“Creative? Want to find out?”

This is an Apples to Apples like game but with some very differentiating twists. How well can you give clues that will tip off a few people but not everyone? The cards are beautiful and creepy and outrageous all at once. Each one is a riddle that you need to expose with your own imagination. With the right group of people, this game rocks!

“Great party game”

I was lucky to learn about this game some time ago. It was amazing when we played. 8 of us around the table.

“Beautiful game”

Dixit is a simple yet wonderful game that can be played with both friends and family. I describe it a “sophisticated version of Apples-to-Apples” where players attempt to both guess the correct story, and steal votes by playing other cards that are a better match. Easy to learn and great fun.

“Wonderful art, feeds the imagination”

I love pulling this game out because of the artwork. The right group of people can make this game hilarious or thought provoking, but always fun and interesting.

“Accessible to both seasoned gamers and casual gamers”

The poetic, surreal artwork kind of reminds me of The Little Prince, for some reason. The artwork would certainly break this game if it wasn’t so rich, varied and beautiful.

“Great poetic game!”

It’s a great game to play in family with a poetic “side”. The grafic are great, some of them are art pieces IMHO.

“A fantastic and beautiful change of pace!”

Dixit is such a radically different sort of game than the board games I am used to, but that is the reason I love it so much. It exercises a part of the brain i don’t normal use at all when playing games like Catan, Arkham Horror, Ticket to Ride, or even Apples to Apples. That focus on creativity and personal interpretation is the cornerstone of Dixit’s brilliance.
Of course, I HAVE to mention the incredible art that facilitates the players’ imaginations. True works of art!

“Creativity, imagination, and some psicology pehaps”

Dixit is fabulous! Great pictures that make you imagine, dream and capture other people in your own imagination, tricking them to belive that what you see is exactly the best significant to the card. It’s very creative, and my favorite game! I really recomend!

“Great fun with the family”

We bought this game about 6 months ago now and have played it probably 20 times, both with family and with friends. I have to say that the artwork is beautiful, I love the randomness of the pictures and how the game provides so many possibilities with just one little card.

My daughters enjoy trying to come up with the most random sayings, songs or sounds they can possibly think of. There is some repetitiveness once you play through all the cards. For example, when playing with kids they will sometimes repeat sayings for cards that they heard before in previous plays which takes a little out of the experience.

Overall Dixit is a very welcome family game that is easy to learn, easy to play but can be tricky to master.

“Pokes your imagination”

And pokes it in a good, stimulating way. Great party game, especially with people with weird, warped minds.
