There were so many great games that came out last year. They weren’t all just from the big publishers either. Many independent developers released some amazing games.

Either Eminent Domain or Kingdom Builder. Both hit different itches, but I really enjoyed them.
A Few Acres of Snow was high on the list also, along with Quarriors, London, Yomi, Discworld, & Ascension (which was new to me in 2011.).
Belfort was probably my biggest surprise. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it’s a really fun game.
I am forgetting a bunch of others. This was a really good year!
A Few Acres of Snow
Not sure if it was my favorite but I have to say the Catacombs Expansions caused that game to hit the table an awful lot at my home.
My vote: Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and the expansions. I also played Casa Grande a lot … I hope they make an English version.
Omen just edges out Risk Legacy.
Hmmm… can’t pick just one….
Family: King of Tokyo
Gamer: Eclipse
2-player: A Few Acres of Snow
RPG: Hollowpoint
I haven’t played Ora & Labora yet, so I have to mention this. I’m also looking forward to playing Strasbourg. I’m a Feld Fan. I also hate leaving Sentinels of the Multiverse off the list.
The game I enjoyed the most in 2011 was probably Defenders of the Realm.
But I think best 2011 game would have to be Star Trek Fleet Captains.
(I’m surprised no one has mention Quarriors or Mansion of Madness).
My favorite is an oldie with a new spin – Winning Moves Games released a card version of Maj Jongg. The quality of the deck is stunning, and the card form factor lets us play in smaller spaces.
I’m also chiming in for Lord of the Rings: The Living Card Game.
I have to say that my favorite game of 2011 was A Few Acres of Snow especially now with Wallace’s updated rules. Being able to play it online at Yucata.de was a very big plus as I got a chance to play it more often.
In a week my answer is liable to change, but currently, it would probably be either Mage Knight or Ora et Labora.
On the lighter side, I was very impressed with King of Tokyo, and pleasantly surprised by Tetris Link as a way to get non-gamers playing games.
I hate to waffle, but I have to pick two. My two favorites are Lord of the Rings: the LCG and the Summoner Wars Master Set. Really liking both of those.
Easy, Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game. Nuf said.
Don’t know yet – haven’t played them all! But, of the ones I’ve played, I have to agree with Jim. Flash Point is great. Out of 5 plays, we beat it once.
Gotta be Eminent Domain.
This took our Race for the Galaxy spot in the rotation.
I think the sublties of this game are hidden for casual players, but like RftG or Puerto Rico, actions/roles in this game can be used to help yourself but hinder others in a very effective way.
I’ll kick things off… My #1 game from 2011 is Flash Point: Fire Rescue.
I’m a big fan of cooperative games. Flash Point’s familiar theme will make this a game I can pull out and play with friends and family, whether they are gamers or not!
