What are you playing this weekend? (Nov 27)

Posted by Account Deletion {Family Gamer} | 27-Nov-15 | 35 comments

We received our box of goodies from the Fantasy Flight holiday sale today, which included Merchant of Venus, Planet Steam, Ventura and Winter Tales. With holiday decorating going on we won’t be playing much, but we should be able to get in a game or two amid the cardboard punching and rules reading.

What are you playing this weekend?

@inmarg Yes those were the crossovers. Cash N Guns to you. Spyfall to me.

Smegg

I’m out of a computer at home due to second HD crash in a year so I’m very limited online during weekends.

If memory serves me correct, the 3 we did agree on was Resistance:Avalon, Escape and Codenames.

@Stratagon That pretty much summed up my Sunday – the power of womankind is turning everyday words into dark spells depending on intonation.

And contrary to Red Dwarf opinion: ‘Okay’ can be a threat depending on how may A’s you attach to it. 😉

@Hai, I have to imagine that FoDF4E is also accompanied by under the breath mutterings of the modern female’s Power Word Kill incantations (“Fine”, “Whatever”).

@Stratagon The Hoth Treatment in the aftermath of a particularly brutal Imperial Insult Rebel loss usually involves making the couch into a Tauntaun sleeping bag. A weekend of icy silence means Transdoshan Hunters will NOT be eating Skywalker’s face off again in two rounds during a rescue mission.

The Fury of Dracula Face (4th ed) just involves a number of sighs, eye rolls, and slow headshakes while other involved parties sheepishly shrug. It have very little to do with ol 3rd Incarnation Drac over there ————————————————>
(Now that the comment log has mysteriously flipped again)
I still think he looks like Liberace Guest Villain stint from 60’s camp Batman.

@inmarg Well I know #3 😛 So we are even. I guess all will be revealed tomorrow when the new WAYPTW goes up. You may have the honors of the answer post. 🙂

We got some DC Deck Builder and some Dice Masters in. Was hoping to play some Jamaica and Formula D but other family obligations got in the way.

@Hai, inmarg

Together you are correct! If nobody else chimes in with the actual names, feel free to list them when you two feel enough time has passed.

@Hai Now I’m wondering if I’d rather suffer through the Hoth treatment or endure the Fury of Dracula face…if it was the 3rd edition face, the choice would be easy.

1, 2 and 5 – agree. They were the easy ones this time.

My initial thought on 4 was c&g but it could also be a shout out when trying to destroy a building or becoming royal. Looking at his played list, they’re all there.

@inmarg Mayhaps together we can crack this one

My non-answers are:

1) Not Werewolf, but I believe there is a shapechanger somewhere in the mythos

2)Not Dungeonquest, but still get out while the getting is good

3) Not Where’s Waldo?, but the opposite. Someone needs to figure out where they are.

4) STUCK

5) Not something I played this weekend, but @Marvin K did

Seeing Hai even having problems on this quiz made my 3/5 not feel to bad after all.

After no non-soloing gaming the last two weeks this weekend actually finally had plenty of gaming:

C&C Napoleonics on Thursday before finishing up Wrath of the Righteous on Friday including the bonus scenario. We actually made it through all 36 adventures without a single loss! Finally time to play something else. Finished up the weekend with a Power Grid (Nordic) and Ubongo Extreme with some friends. Nothing to make you feel stupid like a game of Ubongo…

@Strats Wooooo! That’s a Turkey Day toughie! I think I know 4/5. I just need to couch my non-answers if no one else bites.

As for the standard expected WAYPTW typing to no one in particular. Mostly travelling this holiday time. No gaming. Woke up this morning with a cold from car air. Spent the day hopped up on Nyquil (glug glug glug like a shot ) and Black Cyber shopping. Have to say Cool Stuff was a bit of a ding and dent this year and found more exciting deals and oddities at Mini Market. Although the bulk non-sale worthy purchases still went to CSI. And even though it is well known in our house through past opportunity lost that the FanFlight Winter Sale is an OOP Purge SOMEONE seems to have forgotten to order Merchant of Venus for 25 smackers and was on the receiving end of a Fury of Dracula 4th Edition face all day.
