Monthly college game night at the church. Played TrasnAmerica, Crokinole, Splendor, Telestrations, Incan Gold, and Flash Point. Also taught Carcassonne and Qwixx.
Bit of speculation – queen games and a few trial games of a card game I came up with last night ( I actually dreamt about it! Woke up at 7.30am to write it down before I forgot, quite pleased with it)
I watched Gone Girl today, and it was a decent thriller. But I mention it because of the board games shown in two scenes. Mastermind and Life are shown in an early scene at the bar. Later, in “the woodshed”, Dominion and Race for the Galaxy are clearly visible. I liked the product placement!
My Sentinel Tactics Gen Con World Championship teammates are dropping by tonight for some practice.
I’m going to twist their arms into some Dead of Winter and/or Cosmic Encounter while they’re here, I think.
Not quite a board game, but tomorrow we’re joining friends for something called Escape the Room here in Boston. My interpretation is that it’s something akin to a LARP/murder mystery dinner/puzzle game.
As usual, I’ll be playing Hanabi, Forbidden Island, and Mice and Mystics. If I have time leftover, I might just pick up a little somethin-somethin’ new.
Black Gold – We don’t play this one often but my gaming group enjoys it.
Sons of Anarchy – First play for this one. I liked it.
Railways of the World – I have been dying to get this one to the table.
Star Realms – First play of this recent BG.com Explorable Game. I’m not a fan of deckbuilding games because it gets tiresome watching players take 15 minutes to put a ton of cards into play for minimal effect, and all the shuffling (yikes!). However, I did enjoy Star Realms. It plays quick, is a straight forward game and has some player interaction.
Traveling tomorrow so not sure we’ll get in many games, but we are stopping at a game store before we head home so at the very least I will have new games to talk about again soon. 😀
I picked up Survive: Escape from Atlantis! this week. I’m excited to play it this weekend! Will probably also play Pandemic since my family hasn’t played that yet.
As usual our group will be playing multiple games.
This week we will be playing “Ticket to Ride”, and possibly two new games “Fluxx Monsters”, and “Scrabble Me” and several other games.
Scrabble Me is new and not currently on this web site. Each player has his or her own small Scrabble board to play on, words are built simultaneously and with the playing of a blank wild tile the player may swap board with another player. Sound Fun.

Had a friend over yesterday for some gaming.
We beat both Legendary Encounters (Aliens) and Pandemic the Cure. I managed to pull out wins in 8 minute empire and qwixx.
Will be heading to Elida tonight for some gaming in her appartment.

Not sure what we’ll get to the table tonight.
We had a late-night game session yesterday, so it came down to quick games that could be combined with whiskey: 7 Wonders and Tsuro. 🙂

Quiet enough weekend, looks like a catan night on Saturday, maybe ticket to ride, hopefully a bit of cosmic encounter!
Love Letter, Coloretto, and Jaipur will make for a tranquil weekend of gaming.
Imperial Assault is planned for Saturday evening. I’d also like to play 7 Wonders, Takenoko, Splendor and Legendary this weekend.
