Some kickstarter games came in the mail this week, like Dead Man’s Draw by Mayday Games and Harbour by TMG. I’ve also found that you can get Marvel Dice Masters boosters at Target, so that’s extremely dangerous for me! I’ve also been staring at Lords of Xidit on the shelf and really want to play that one… it is going to be a wait and see kinda weekend.
What are you playing this weekend?
@Tom – I concur 100% on Jaipur. Lost Cities is also awesome with 2 player, and Castles of Burgundy.
By the grace of the God-Emperor, I hope to get in some games of Warhammer 40K: Conquest this weekend. I’m also digging out the Monsterpocalypse stuff for a giant kaiju bash!
Meh. Missed game night at YLGS due to family stuff. But the family is gone tonight. So hopefully Terra Mystica or Formula D tomorrow.
@Tom I’d suggest Jaipur or Patchwork if you can get past the quilting theme.
Now that I (shamefully) learned we were leaving out an important rule in Eldritch Horror, I’m excited to play it the real way!
We did think it was a lot easier than many people claimed… although we’ve still been enjoying it a ton over the last month.
(For those interested, I didn’t realize we were supposed to advance doom based on the gates every time the omen track moved… even though that’s mentioned 4 or 5 different times in the rules. 🙁 DOOOOOMM!!!)
No game groups planned so unless something last minute happens it will be games that play well with two players. Neuroshima Hex, Quarantine and Lord of the Rings LCG in particular.
Hoping to finally learn Temporum this weekend.
I got my first game of Dead of Winter in on Friday night. That was worth the wait and I look forward to more games in the future.
Saturday night managed to get in Carcassonne, Wits and Wagers and Bang: the Dice Game
I am still fairly new to modern gaming, and I am really enjoying Splendor. What are some similar titles that aren’t too complex and work with two players? Thanks.
Heroclix, mperial Assault, Mice and Mystics, Splendor, Machi Koro with the Harbour expansion and Harbour game. All this without going to the gaming convention this weekend.
So far played Omen Reign of War, Hemloch, and Robinson Crusoe. Also played Viticulture on Thursday.
@anderoy I love Shogun! I am also surprised that the game is absent from this site.
I’m leaving a conference today where we played:
Yardmaster, Yardmaster Express, Diamonds, Port Royal, Sushi Go, Medina, Pandemic: The Cure, Star Realms, and Among the Stars.
Now I return to normalcy today, but am hoping to play some Colo variants of Between two Cities and Labyrintheus.
@Taxtu I hope you enjoy Dead of Winter after all the trouble of finally getting it. Let me know how Trickerion PnP goes – even though it is probably much more watered down than the full game.
It’s going to be a rather light weekend for me. Managed to get a game of Machi Koro in this evening and that might be it until next weekend!
Just finished a night of Machi Koro, Camel Up, Qwirkle and King of Tokyo with the Power Up expansion that we got for Christmas. I’m really impressed with how much the expansion adds to the game. I normally get bored of KoT pretty fast but the evolution cards definitely adds a bit of strategy.
@Tatxu have fun with Dead of Winter. It is fantastic! A friend managed to get a copy but we have yet to play.
The guy from my local shop (i should be adding it to the BGdot list… even i have still to encounter some other spanish gamer here…) called be late afternoon to confirm my Dead of Winter arrived… late due to snow (i live in quite a mountain-full-area), asi this game should be!
Also we have finish to print and prepare the free test for Trickerion, so we organized a gaming event on Sunday to test both games.
Saturday i will be delving some other kickstarter proyects.
I jumped the gun on the “no new Kickstarters this week” thing… I took a quick trip home at lunch and found what felt like 10 pounds of Escape Big Box waiting for me. Doubt I do anything with it other than punch cardboard this weekend.
I’m finally going to open and punch Aquasphere, but I’m not sure there’s time to enjoy much more than the smell of new boardgameness
This weekend we are having some new friends over who have been Magic players, but are relatively new to board gaming. In addition to Pauper format Magic, we’ll be playing some classics like Ticket To Ride, Settlers of Catan, Munchkin and maybe one or two other games they saw on Tabletop. 🙂
