What are you playing this weekend? (Feb 20)

Posted by Jim {Power Gamer} | 20-Feb-15 | 33 comments

WizKids was extremely generous and sent all their Dice Masters 2-Player starter sets to us, so we’ll be swimming in dice this weekend as we work on not only a review for the Dice Masters game in general, but micro-reviews for each set to help you know what’s unique and cool about each one. Then if we can dry ourselves off from all those dice, we’ll see if we can play some Dead of Winter to get our fill of cooperative gaming (with a possible traitor).

What are you playing this weekend?

Had my first runs through 7 Wonders (liked it and hope to play again soon) and King of New York (boring). Then, lots of Sentinels as usual.

We played The Village with both the expansions, quite a good experience, made the game even more funny adding a lot of different options.

I am still looking to be able to organize a trial for Trickerion and for my first game of the awaited Dead of Winter 🙁 It is being hard schedule weeks for gaming…

Couple of 8 player ca$h n guns 2 which was a good laugh. Some dixit and finally speculation (queen games) which is a brilliant stocks and shares game, we play it a lot, upto 6 players. Hoping it will be added to this site one day (have requested it)

I have been playing an excellent game called Carcassonne: The Castle. It’s a standalone game for two players only, much like Rivals of Catan. The copy I have is in a yellow gold box and printed by Rio Grande Games, but it isn’t listed on this site. Is there any way to add this title to the list of games on Boardgaming.com? it is too good a game to be unlisted.

College gaming night. Lower attendance probably due to the cold. We played La Isla, Las Vegas, Lost Temple, Splendor, and countless games of Crokinole and Weykick.

Either this weekend is a busy non-gamey weekend or if it snows tomorrow, a gamey hot chocolate weekend.

We did get a box full of The Plaid from Plaid Hat Games yesterday with some pre-orders from months back.

One was Video Game High School which I wanted to get for The Nieces and liked for myself. It combines some very light worker placement with Yahtzee dice tossing of King of Tokyo. Looks fast and fun.

The other was Summoner Wars:Alliances which I vaguely remembered The Boy was getting. Twas glorious! I had some remembrances that it was going to be another Master Set type and it was. Big Box Style! Sorting troughs, dividers and lists for all previous factions, and a game mat. I’m not much into game matting – but this was pretty. A happy surprise indeed and a fun hour of sorting. How I love to worship at the Cult of the Big Box. The 8 new ‘blended’ factions intrigue and I hope we get to try a few out. Fallen Phoenix Elves? YES! With Itharia Madness around the corner I know the Boy will be revamping house rules to fit the Blend Alliances into the Annual Summoner Wars Bracket Tourney.

Other than that I would like to get a game of Argent in and mayhaps Harbour because I want to try new VPPs.

Tonight we got to play some Patchwork, Lords of Waterdeep with the Scoundrels expansion and Pathfinder: RotR. I’m not sure what is in store for the rest of the weekend but I’m sure it will include more games 🙂

We are trying to play a bunch of titles to justify our latest game purchases. Namely: Forbidden Desert, Quarantine, Valley of the Kings and Hey That’s my Fish. Also I’m enjoying Friday solo and playing Mille Bornes with my 3.5 year old son.
