Awesome discovery of the Mask of Agamemnon! I’ll have the new badge uploaded tomorrow (I’ll comment in this article when it’s up).

@Jagged – I have noticed exactly the same thing with the spells. They are definitely underused. I wish I could say that the expansion makes spell-use more common, but it doesn’t. Players have more access to spell-like effects because of captured items, but the spell deck stays the same. Let me know if you have any ideas to make spells more accessible.

@Budgie – That sounds way better. I also found with the original that there is a massive magic spell pile and they don’t come into play nearly enough. Have you found the same thing?

@Jagged Age – After a few plays we decided the game needed some house ruling too. What we did was remove all 4-hp heroes. This brought out the epics a lot quicker and forced players to think more about the types of rooms they were placing, as well as how and when to absorb damage early on so that they were prepared for the epics.

You also mentioned getting the expansion. I hope it rejuvenates the game for you. It definitely did for us. After incorporating it we no longer felt the need for house ruling as items have the potential to make even the fool a deadly foe.

I also discovered the Mask of Agamemnon, I was hoping for a slightly better badge to display.

I also own Boss Monster and it was fun the first time, but the fun factor dies off rather quickly. I ordered the expansion to see if it can rejuvenate the game but I’m thinking it is going to need some house rules to bring it back.

Boss Monster is an okay one-time game for the experience. It is a nice nod to the old NES days of gaming. But the game can grind to a halt and be very unfun.

Nice, I discovered the Mask of Agamemnon. I very nearly pledged to support Boss Monster on KS, but I was just starting to cut down on KS pledges about that time. Looks really cool.
