“Use of cover”

Too often I play with opponents who rush out of cover and cross a field only to be cut down by a machine gun emplacement. Use artillery and mortar attacks to try and suppress the enemy before moving across open terrain. Wait until his units are exhausted. Use card play to get an advantage, or at least soften up that position before you charge right into it. This may seem basic, but I see it happen all the time. If you wouldn’t run out in front of a machine gun in real life, why would you do it in tide of iron?

“Personal Morale”

Be prepared for scenario imbalance, though it can be a problem it can also be a lot of fun. Learn to enjoy being the underdog and coming out on top and don’t get overly upset if/when you are smashed to pieces by the other player.

Also, get creative. This game has a lot of room for customization, don’t like a scenario, fix it or create a new one.

“Suppressive Fire”

suppressive fire is used best to protect your troops as they advance. I know that is a basic military concept, but a lot of people forget this when playing a board game. Disrupt your opponent, and then move into position, lay down more suppressive fire and move your next piece into position. This technique is called the bounding overwatch, and it is very affective in this game

“Invest in Plano”

Plano makes a variety of small tackle boxes that have plenty of space for the components and have no trouble fitting in the massive box.

“Scenario one as the Germans”

In scenario one, the germans are at a serious disadvantage if they take a long time to move into position because the allied player can bring in reinforcements very regularly. The key to this scenario from what I’ve found is to move the German tank fast into the Americans right flank down the road and try to push a hole into their wire defenses. then hit as hard and as fast as possible to try and flood their perimeter with as many troops as you can to attempt to cut off their reinforcements. (Note) a reinforcement zone occupied by an enemy soldier prevents reinforcements from coming into play.
