“St. Petersburg line”

Now that I’ve played RR a few times there seems to be only 2 clear paths to scoring points. Either 100% Vladivostok or combining Kiev and Industrialization.

The St. Petersburg only get used for getting the bonus tokens and nothing else. At a recent con I spoke with someone who has played it more than me and we had both been tinkering with tha same idea to try out on the middle line. Namely testing it out with a X3 or even a X4 multiplier for grey line at space 7.

As it stands now, the replayability does not seem to be very high.

“Power of the engineers”

First choice in my games has so far almost always been the engineer, so make sure you have 1 ruble available when you’re going first to hire him (to the extent no matter who it is). Not only are you getting one of the better actions around, but you also get a great action for later when you replace your worker from turn order as only you can use him.

“No need to rely on engineers”

This is one of my top 5 favorites, and I can throw out about 400 pts every game. There is no need to go all in on engineers in order to win. Advantage tokens to get the Kiev medal and end of game scoring cards are far more important.

“Don't worry about turn order.”

You can do quite well without fretting over being first each round. In fact, you really need others to do the dirty work for you, and by that, I mean, get the other players to buy up the low numbered locomotives. It’s a low efficiency action to continue to buy locomotives round after round. Also, if you happen to sit in 4th place the entire game, that’s 27 points you tally very quietly, without attracting any attention to yourself that you might be a threat to win.
