The character guarding Gollum has to increase their threat by 3 at the end of each turn. You can make that a little easier by placing the three Elfhelm warriors in your deck. They allow you to lower you threat by 1 as a result of questions unsuccessfully, or by an encounter or quest card effect. If you can get a couple of them in play they can help with threat.
