“Ability and faction reference cards”

Since the various abilities can be pretty overwhelming, it’s nice to have easy to read reference cards. You can obtain a reference card by purchasing a DMZ pack, or you can download them from vaious sources.

The is a great resource here: http://gameknave.com/monpoc/

You can also download the game sheet at Headless Hollow.com (which is a great overall gaming resource).

I also found downloadable reference cards at boardgamegeek.com under monsterpocalypse.

Having a reference card on hand definitely saves a lot of flipping through the rule book during the game. Have fun!

“Monster Surprise Attack!”

This game has a lot to do with resource management, and the resource is action dice. Players tend to get into a rhythm of unit activation, followed by monster activation, followed by unit activation, and so forth, basically moving your action dice from one pool to the other. As long as you have adequate power dice stored up, you can make a power attack with your monster using only one action die. You can disrupt your opponent’s rhythm by following one monster activation with another monster activation, as long as you conserve at least one action dice in your monster pool. This can give you two huge damaging attacks in a row on your opponent’s monster, which can be all the difference in the game.
