“Watch your speed”

Try to hold back a low number for late in the game. That way you can swoop in and grab some real estate from an opponent. Even if you can get a lot you can block them from influencing a larger area.

“Special abilities ”

Pay close attention to the special abilities of your pieces. It doesn’t make sense to play a piece that allows you to move another early in the game or if you are happy with your placements. You can also use placing conflict markers defensively if you don’t see any good offensive opportunities.

“Think ahead”

When placing pieces consider where they are going early in the game. As you start to fill columns and rows you will limit yourself later in the game. Try to save pieces that let you move other pieces as thes allow you to break the placement rules.

“Constructed armies”

I’m considering trying a game where the players can construct an army out of available pieces. This would allow both suns and missives to be used. The current sets of markers come out to 450-500 point range. So I would suggest maybe 475? Players would need to have a minimum of 9 pieces so there will still be 1 unplaced. They could go over this but would have the thinning effect of an untuned deck if they want. No more than 1 of each number. You might want to construct pieces so you can use ones that are back to back on the counters.
