“Alternate Loyalty Deck ”

Whenever I play with Pegasus, I always build the loyalty deck using the Exodus rules. This means there’s 1 extra “You are not a Cylon” card in the deck. Whenever someone is executed, you add another “You are not a Cylon” card to the leftover card and have them take one of the remaining cards. This way, you can’t know someone’s loyalty just by executing them.

“Playing the 4 player game.”

I have learned that if you are the Cylon at the start of the game it is best to reveal that you are before the second set of loyalty cards comes into play. That way if you get the second Cylon card you can then give it to the player of your choosing to even the odds at taking the humans out. Else, it is very hard to win the game.

“Unofficial Character Errata”

Helena Cain’s “Blind Jump” ability can drastically shorten the game if used at the right time by essentially skipping an entire jump cycle, and the Airlock location is not included in character abilities that apply to the Admiral’s Quarters, which has a similar function. Players in online games usually use the following unofficial errata:

– William Adama’s “Emotionally Attached” drawback also forbids him from activating the Airlock.

– Saul Tigh’s “Cylon Hatred” ability also allows him to reduce the difficulty of Airlock skill checks.

– Helena Cain’s “Blind Jump” ability does not draw a new destination card; instead, reduce fuel by 1 and add 1 to the fleet’s distance traveled. Follow all other procedures for jumping the fleet as normal.

Tom Zarek’s “Friends In Low Places” ability is often modified to include the Airlock as well, though I recommend against it; Zarek’s ability normally gets people out of the brig, not into it.

“Kat the unstoppable BS Pegasus commander”

Kat is probably the best character to take advantage of the new locations on the Battlestar Pegasus.

To unlock the power: Kat’s every turn ability is that she can discard a skill card and add 2 to it’s number and that becomes what she rolled for any d8 roll. The reason that this is amazing is that the new Battlestar has a location that can damage a base star multiple times with a good roll and another that can destroy multiple raiders with a single shot. Also, both of those abilities can cause a negative if the roll is too low. With Kat’s ability, those results will not come up since there is no roll being made.

I have seen this combination turn a cylon fleet heavy game into a cake walk. It was perhaps the easiest game of BSG I have ever played.

“Naturally Reckless skill checks”

Many of the new Treachery skill cards use the new Reckless Skill Check mechanic, but once Cylon players reveal and can reliably get Treachery cards, human players will almost never use Reckless abilities, which makes the Treachery deck seem far less interesting. One solution some groups try is to make it so any skill check whose total is a negative number is counted as Reckless, activating all RSC abilities played into it. This gives those cards more of a use to Cylon players and gives them more interesting choices of when to use them.

Be warned, though, that this rule will end up draining more Skill cards from the human players as they cannot be sure whether it’s safe to ignore an otherwise-inconsequential skill check, so you may want to use it in tandem with other house rules that give the humans an advantage, such as increasing their starting resources as described in the rulebook.
