Tip: “Know the Roles”

This is mentioned in the rulebook, but it is really important.

You very much need to know the roles available in the game!

Watch your opponents carefully and predict which role they have, so you can work against them as much as possible.

Another good tip is try not to reveal your own role. The longer you hide it from the others, the tougher it is for them to stop you when you are about to win.

Make sure you have a very large table. This board is huge (sorry, don’t have my copy anymore to provide dimensions).

I have Galactic Strike Force & A Study in Emerald backed right now, but will probably drop GSF due to likely not being able to afford both games. Kind of a bummer they are due so close together.

I need to keep A Study in Emerald though. Lower production numbers, combined with one of my favorite designers & favorite authors, makes this difficult to pass up…

Played Tzolkin (cool idea, not sure how much I enjoyed the game though, but would play again.), Terra Mystica (Really fun, want to pick up my own copy now.), and Smash Up (Not sure, maybe better with more than 2 players?).

Went to a friend’s birthday party. Played Igel Argen, Legendary, Dungeon Fighter, River Dragons, Garden Dice, & Archipelago.

Will hopefully get some other games played today with the family…

Not sure what I am playing, but I am going to our second Topkon, a mini con here in Topeka. Both have been for helping out members with medical bills due to some sort of incident. This time it is to help my own family with my wife’s medical bills.

I am bringing a ton of games, because while we expect the local gamers to come out, we also have some non-gamers dropping by to support us, so I need to bring my gateway games in addition to my want to play games :).

Either Eminent Domain or Kingdom Builder. Both hit different itches, but I really enjoyed them.

A Few Acres of Snow was high on the list also, along with Quarriors, London, Yomi, Discworld, & Ascension (which was new to me in 2011.).

Belfort was probably my biggest surprise. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it’s a really fun game.

I am forgetting a bunch of others. This was a really good year!
