Munchkin

I LOVE MUNCHKIN!!! I can’t remember the first time I played but when I did I knew I was hooked. This is a fun easy game of backstabbing and collecting sweet loot! The card text is very funny as is the art. I have all but 2 of the “expansions” for this game, its an endless game where everyone plays a race/class combo similar to other RPG’s but with a twist, you can help your friends to reach a higher level of help the monsters so that only you can prevail as the ULTIMATE MUNCHKIN! Collect weapons and armor, fight the Gazebo and Plutonium Dragon, get to level 10 and brag to your friends forever, or until one of them wins. I play this game all the time with my friends, we find that its always more fun to play the original with one or two of the other decks, like Munchkin Bites, which adds a nice horror theme, or Super Munchkin which adds a super hero theme to the game. Overall its a fun easy game to show people who aren’t to into the board gaming world yet, and anyone who likes pure sillyness!

I show this game to any of my friends who has an interest in “real” boardgames. Easy to learn and fun to play, good into to basic strategy for future games. Makes a fun social game if you have 4 or 5 people who want to play something, not much downtime and everyone can have a good time, you can play nice or cut-throat, always fun, hits my table at lease 2 times a month.

Puerto Rico

There is a good reason that Puerto Rico is still at the top of the rankings on Boardgamegeek. It was one of the first “real” boardgames that I ever played about 5 years ago. This game is just awesome in every way, not much luck involved at all, pretty much all strategy, the only luck in my opinion is what role you get to pick and what buildings you get to build, only based on what the other players pick. Ive recently been playing a very very very good 2 player variant with my dad which makes the game even more fun, in my opinion anyway, I’m a big fan of 2 player games. Basic game play is similar to other Euro Games, gather resources, sell them for money or victory points, wash, repeat. You build different buildings to help you out through the game, shipping more goods, getting more workers/victory points’money etc. Overall this game is fantastic and never gets old, i play it at least o2 or 3 times a month. Not the best game to show someone who is new to gaming, Id go with Stone Age for that, but definitely a moderate level game with endless strategy.
