Power Grid
This was a recent purchase for me, purely based on good comments about the game, and my always present fanatism for strategy games. The game plays well and is very easy to learn for new players (I spent like 15 minutes explaining all the rules and we were all set after that).
The strategy in this game is heavy, it requires a lot of math and planning ahead for you to win, and most times, the one which plans better ahead of time is the one that ends up winning the game. Nevertheless, everybody has fun playing, even when they lose, because the game plays so, that if you don’t want to think too much and just try to follow the others, you still have fun, and you don’t feel like you are so far behind (even when you truly are) that it gets frustrating. Great for heavy thinkers and math geeks, but also for family and casual gamers. Awesome game!
