Kemet

I watched videos of this game and read lots of reviews on Kemet before I even played it the first time. After playing it once I knew I wanted to own this game. Your Egyptian army is battling for temples using resources that you purchase on your turn. Sometimes the rights combos make a world of difference, but then how risky will you be when you attack and try to hold a temple. The various creatures that you can purchase stay with you for the rest of the game and assist you with battles. There’s even a mechanic in the game that helps the player that’s in last place. Really really love this game. The only negative I would have to say about the game is that it can be a long time between turns unless you’re getting attacked, but that does give you time to strategize your upcoming turn. The game pieces are good quality and the creatures look excellent.

They really captured the essence of the verse in this game. You are the Capt of your own Firefly and pick your crew, items and quests and hope you can complete more missions then your fellow Captains. I REALLY love the feel of this game and always enjoy playing it. The game turns can be long and thus lead to a 3 or 4 hour game but as players get better about their turns it does speed up game play.

I love playing this game with friends but it plays well solo too. The variety of combos for Villain, Environment, and Heroes make re-playability high. If you find any of the Villain’s too easy then try them in advanced mode. There are also a variety of player made mods to keep it fresh. I keep finding hero powers that compliment each other. Even when I lose a game it’s still feels like a great battle. The only thing I can say bad about this game is that tracking all the modifies can be a little daunting. There are tricks to that by creating your own point dials, or a score board with hero markers. Still not enough of a problem to make it not worth playing.

The one thing that really impressed me with this game was that everyone takes their turn at the same time. No waiting around for each person to make their choice. There are many ways to win the game and some luck is involved in what cards you have to choose from. It does take getting through one full game to get a feel for how the strategies work but after that it’s like riding a bike. Very family friendly too.

Great game! 4 to 8 players. It doesn’t bog down by having 7 or 8 players like some games do. The strategy changes by what characters are played, and by who. Bluffing and bartering keep everyone engaged. This is one of my favorites for it’s replay ability. Certain character cards have two versions. It’s an awesome blend of strategy and luck. Big plus is that it doesn’t take a lot of table space. Game play time is usually less than an hour.
